mirror splashbacks

hi, thinking of buying a glass splashback or a toughened mirror, i saw Adlei glass www.adleiglass.com.au website and they do both. Has anyone used these guys? What do people think of mirrors as a splashback?

I saw a mirrored splashback in the kitchen of a display house, Believe it or not it looked fantastic, and made the room look bigger.
Guess you have to consider that every mark will look 'doubled'.

Home Beautiful (March) has a kitchen with mirrored spashback in it and the designer was saying how effective they are at reflecting back light or possibly a view, and that they are "easy to clean"... but what she probably meant was they are easy to clean but you will need to wipe them over ALL THE TIME!
I guess it's not a lot different to glass splashbacks - just that you will see marks more.

Depends on how short you are.

Even with a 650mm splash the top of the mirror would still only be at 1550mm...which is definitiely below my eye level...with angle of incidence/reflection I would end up looking at my stomach most of the time...maybe a great new tool for a weight loss program!

Would a mirror splashback deteriorate i.e. the backing, if it got wet?

We had a mirror above our bathroom sink in our old house, which was too close to the benchtop, and the water made the mirror go black. No doubt it wasn't sealed properly.

I would want them to assure me that it would hold up against water i.e. sealed well and waterproofed.

But IMO mirror splashbacks look pretty spesh :lol:

I love the look of a mirrored splash back! You can be cooking and then keeping an eye on the kids behind you

mirror splashbacks look absolutely awesome... they make the room look bigger too, so i guess it's a must for small kitchens!

I was thinking of something along those lines as well, I thought I'd go for either mirrored tiles (like ones you can get for bathrooms) or a mirrored splash back.

In the end I decided on Stainless Steel splash back. Clean lines, still shiny and nicer than tiles but hopefully a little bit less cleaning effort than a mirror would have been. I figured that apart from behind the stove the rest should stay relatively clean anyway.
