Re: First Steps, building WA 11Feb 16, 2010 12:06 am this is the only prices I have to hand at the moment: Add microwave/oven stack : 635 Sliding doors to bed4: 638 laundry - inset trough and bench, cupbards under: 990 extra cupbard to linen:780 change main door from single to double:585 Re: First Steps, building WA 12Feb 23, 2010 8:09 pm just as a word of warning building in the Chittering area. make sure your builder knows what they are doing with the earthworks. your inclusions and spec are definitely a big part of the process, but when building in areas with what can be difficult blocks and tricky site conditions (clay etc), you want to build with someone who has experience with this sort of stuff. they will most likely put the earthworks costs as provisional sums etc. which is fair enough as pretty much all builders do. but ask if they have got actual quotes (they don't need to show you these) or are basig it on a guesstimate. i haven't been to chittering rise but i'm wondering what the blocks are like - are they flat, sandy and ready to build on with power and services connected or do you need to do this stuff yourself through the builder? cheers Jay Re: First Steps, building WA 13Feb 23, 2010 9:14 pm the blocks are all bush blocks you get power and phone to the boundry and thats about it. oh hang on some of them have a bore already sunk. Apparently the water there is pretty good. The sites vary from pretty steep to quite flat at the bottom of the hill so quite a mixed bag. There are one or two blocks part developed.( cleared with a drive) up for sale. Our has gentle slope so best of both worlds for a bit of a view and not too much leveling. We are probably not getting redink to do the earth works but not 100% sure yet. We have a few quotes from different people. We have had a few soil tests and its mainly sandy with a bit of gravel. Closer to the gt. N highway its flatter and i think more sandy. Re: First Steps, building WA 14Feb 24, 2010 11:40 am gentle slope is good and the soil tests with sand are a good sign. definitely worth shopping around on your earthworks as prices can vary - just make sure you are comparing apples with apples on the quotes. if you need the details for anyone let me know, we have a few that we have used for a long time. cheers Jay Re: First Steps, building WA 15Oct 17, 2010 12:29 am HangOver the blocks are all bush blocks you get power and phone to the boundry and thats about it. oh hang on some of them have a bore already sunk. Chat soon no doubt Jen Re: First Steps, building WA 16Oct 17, 2010 12:58 am hi jen we are on salmon gum, just got the envelope cleared and thats about it. plans need to go in for re submission or something I could bore you but I won't. Its like running through treacle getting anything done. One thing I did wonder is there a rubbish collection or do you have to take your own rubbish to the tip? There is a local company which do a pick up weekly for $6. They have a few folks up here who use them. Will try and find the number for you. They did a pick up today (Tuesday). You do get a tip pass though so if you have a ute you can tip for free at the local tip. Great while your building! I bet your resub is something to do with the envelope am I right? Most of the people I know here have cleared the envelope got it surveyed to find they have cleared well outside. Yep I did it too. Its rather awkward trying to find boundarys in all this bush and then get the measurements right. Overall though the Shire are pretty good and usually quite quick when they get going. If you need any other advice feel free to pick my brains. Jen Re: First Steps, building WA 18Oct 20, 2010 11:30 am $6 that's good, easier than driving to the tip. I have a small trailer ready for work when we move in so yes I think the tip might see us a on regular basis for a while. The resumission was due to the builder submiting the plans before we had signed them off not big deal I dont think though I'm sure after waiting more than a year to get the plans sorted another few weeks wont kill us. We now have planning permissin for the septic tank. Now just needed for the house and water tank then ermmm just wait I guess Re: First Steps, building WA 19Feb 25, 2011 1:47 am wow its been a long time since an update and things ahve moved on a bit we now have a slab and a few wall !
