How hard is it to move a tap?

This was one of our contentions during/after contracts. The spa in the ensuite had the mixer and outlet (spout) on the left hand side at the FRONT of the spa bath - meaning that the headrest would have been behind the outlet (when looking front on). We got this changed to the far side (in front of the window) but realised too late that they moved BOTH the mixer and the outlet to the far/rear side - meaning that we will basically have to get into the spa to turn on the mixer.
We are pretty sure that the builder is going to refuse to move the mixer (not the outlet) to the front side - especially seeing as the mixer has been set up (capped) and the plaster has now gone on (but is yet to be tiled)... we have mentioned it a few times and they are still looking into it - but I'm wondering (assuming they will say no) if it is possible to move the mixer tap only (not the spout), and if this is going to cost us an arm and a leg?

Seeing as it hasn't been tiled yet, damn easy to rectify and at worst probably 3/4 hour to fix....

See - one of the lines they have been giving us is that the mixer and the spout cannot be separated - they need to be together... which I don't really buy, but I don't know. If it can be done we will stress that we really want this to be changed ASAP seeing as we have had the equivalent of about 12 weeks delays!!! And this is what we asked for in the first place! I don't think we are asking too much - it's like 800 - 1000mm difference between the spout and the mixer if it does get moved - so it's not like we are asking for it to be moved to another room! :roll:

When they supplied them for installation was the unit joined together or was it in separate boxes and require installation....If it was separated in the beginning and can also operate this way in the end.... I don't know of any tap fittings that come as a complete and joined fittings, to spout, in the plumbing industry when it comes to tap ware...

Personally I don't really see a problem with where the outlet is currently. But for f%%%%s sake, :evil:

, I bet the idiot (plumber) that put the mixer over there at the time of installation thought you were a goose for putting it there also.... not knowing it wasn't meant to actually be there.

COMMON SENSE for these people has vanished with out a trace....

All they need to do is get a longer piece of hose from the mixer to the faucet, poke a new whole in the plaster, fill the other one up and mount the mixer the same way but in the new hole... I mean, how hard is it.. :?:

I am sure if you went there during the building and ask one of the plumbers or get their number and call them direct he would come back and do it not a problem.. Take them about 20 minutes with all their right tools...

Will get onto them and try to push that it gets moved. It's further than it looks - cosidering you can just see the showerbase inside the door to the right - before the spa, and the shower is 900x900, and the spa is much wider than the shower. It'll just be a pain to have to reach right across/climb into the spa to turn it on, but we thought it was a bit dumb to have a spout on the front side, therefore shifted it...
Like you said - no common sense!

I can't beleive the response you've got from the builder!
Would you not consider the proposed layout similar to that of a mixer in the shower?

The mixer is mounted on the wall at the desired location, then piped to the shower head - in your case it's simple running sideways, not vertical, and ends in a spout!
