Now I will have to be careful how I explain things to you. Yes from Country to country there are huge differences. Another forum I joined, all its members seem to be spread out around the world. I have leant how hard it can be. I will be more careful from now on with you. I’m hoping to get in to day and answer a couple of questions, also give you some decorating advice. By the way if you want to PM me with your address, I will send you an A4 of the “Violet Intense”. The large ones are so much easier to work with. I’m happy to do this for you!!! Talk soon. PS……I will give you the paint mix, to “Violet Intense” All you do is take these numbers to Dulux, and they will mix the colour for you. It’s the recipe for the colour!!! “VIOLET INTENSE” – P44.B8 Go back to Dulux with these numbers Now lets hope this works. No idea! 22Dec 18, 2007 11:22 pm I was wondering if the picture you posted with that lovely purple shaded wall is 'actually' Dulux Violet Intense? Or was that another colour?
If the colour of that wall IS Violet Intense, there is no need to send me the colour sample (but thank you so much anyway!!) as you have now given me the recipe for it! If the colour of the wall isn't Violet Intense, then it may be worth while being sent the colour sample so that I can see what colour it is before I get them to make up the recipe! If this is the case, perhaps you could send it to my family in Aust, as it will be much cheaper to post! I am sure my sis can send you the payment for the postage! She can then send it to me. Thank you so much. Re: Colour help! No idea! 23Dec 19, 2007 6:09 am The photo was taken off the net…..to represent my colour.
Violet Intense is lightly stronger than the photo. I’m happy to send it. The other thing you can do is, print the first photo out in the best printout version you can, take it to Dulux and get them to match the colour!!! Try that first; they should be able to do that!!! Let me know how you get on! This is Violet Intense. No idea! 24Dec 19, 2007 5:51 pm Mini your lounge space –
Once you get the mirror hung you will need other pieces on your mantel. Don’t make the mistake of hanging it too high, it needs to be hung at eye level. That’s eye level for people who are about 5 ft tall not 6 ft or more. Candles are always a cheap alternative for decoration, scented candles are even better! Try a grouping of 3 to one side, either side of the mantel, doesn’t matter which side. On the other side a couple of gold photo frames with photos of whomever in them. Also your window dressing needs to be replaced….now this is were it gets hard! Not knowing what is available in the UK I can only suggest what would look best. These are Roller Blinds – Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The advantage to the Roller Blind is that they sit within the reveal of your windows, making your room appear larger. The colour you should choose is one close to your wall colour. This will give you a continual flow of the same colour through out the room, and not add another colour. This again helps your room to appear larger. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Colour help! No idea! 25Dec 19, 2007 7:56 pm My goodness! After all that, I don't like the colour Violet Intense that you posted the picture of!! WAY too purple!!!
Maybe you are right...perhaps I will ask Dulux to colour match the first photo you posted. Sound good? Thank you for the offer anyway. I have plain beige coloured curtains at the moment, not blinds though. I can't afford blinds at the moment, and to be honest...it is a bay window, so I am unsure how blinds will look seeing I will probably need 3 pieces (2 smaller blinds on the sides, and one larger in the middle). It could work I suppose. I am happy now though that I stuck with beige once I got rid of those awful green ones. As for the candle, picture frame idea, as well as coffee table decorations and cushions, thats great - thank you! It would be nice to get purple/gold cushions for the couches - what do you think? (as long as the purple is a similar shade). I hung the mirror up after taking that original photo - it is up about 20 cms off the fireplace. When u say 'eye level' do you mean so that you can see your reflection in the mirror (ie. ur face)? Sorry -maybe thats a silly q'n!! Re: Colour help! No idea! 26Dec 19, 2007 8:06 pm Yes Mini……you need to see yourself in the mirror. I know this sounds a basic thing, but I have seen many a mirror hung so high, no one could see themselves!
The Violet Intense looks bright, but in fact it’s quite dark! That’s my bedroom, and I know it never looks that bright! I had the blinds open, light on and the flash from the camera, which all made the colour look bright, but its not. But I like the one in the first photo I posted up, its more of a grey/purple, a lot softer! The roller blinds will work well in the bay area, but since you have changed the green curtains, there’s no need for another change! Cushions yes, nice colour selections. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Colour help! No idea! 27Dec 19, 2007 10:22 pm That is a good point. When I go home tonight, I will see whether I can see myself in the mirror!!
I will maybe get them to make up a sample pot of the violet intense. if it is usually darker, it could look nice! I'll see what they suggest this weekend hopefully! Thanks for all your help Michelle. I will def. let you know how I get on xx Re: Colour help! No idea! 28Dec 21, 2007 7:13 pm Michelle, I was just thinking...
would it matter if I painted the left wall in the dining room instead of the right wall that you suggested? Or would this look odd? (as the fireplace wall in the lounge room is on the right) The left wall in the dining room has a wall heater/radiator and a pretty white wooden thatched covering. I thought if this left wall was painted, then I could also paint the radiator covering purple to match, but highlight some of the wood with a lighter purple. I realise this may not make much sense without me taking a pic of it and showing you. In the meantime though, before I buy the paint and go ahead with this, I was just after your opinion on whether it matters if I painted the left wall instead. x Re: Colour help! No idea! 30Dec 22, 2007 5:58 am Mini, you can paint whatever side you like. I was just keeping them on the same side for balance. But if it’s better for you to do the other side, then go ahead.
I think it’s a good idea to paint the heater! But you will have to do it in a full gloss paint!!! Your walls in a Satin, or whatever you did your other walls in. Wall paper has made a huge come back; there are some fantastic patterns out now, so yes if you find one grab it. Not TOO much pattern though. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Colour help! No idea! 31Jan 26, 2008 2:59 am Hello Michelle!
Sorry - long time no message! I sent off for some wallpaper samples (online) and received them recently. You said to make sure they weren't too overly patterned, but it is only the quite heavly patterend ones that I like!! I have attached the one I love the most...which is more of a plum colour than a purple, and looks stunning in real life (it is like a velvet/felt feel). I was thinking to only use this on the fireplace wall (as it is VERY expensive) and then paint the right dining room wall (as you suggested) - yet in a colour that Dulux can colour-match (ie. the background colour of the wallpaper). Any thoughts/comments?! Thanks so much xx Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Colour help! No idea! 32Jan 26, 2008 8:44 am Hi Mini, love the wall paper, and if you only use it on the fireplace wall…..stunning!
Yes see if Dulux can match the background colour for your other feature wall it will look fantastic! Well done, make sure you show us photos of the end result! Hows the weather over there?
