It's in Ringwood too http://www.chippystimber.com.au/ Eimaj Interesting price list, merbau goes up in price the longer it is. From $3.15 (2.1m) to $4 (5m) Re: Timber - Eastern Subs Melb 13Dec 11, 2007 11:35 am Vanderlay - have a look at the radcon products and think about using them for your deck.
More details here. http://www.radialtimber.com/gallery.html http://www.rc1.com.au/zproducts.htm Much better use of the volume of timber per tree - and lots of character due to the various shape and sizes etc. I've seen a deck built with this stuff and it was really nice. And would make a great place to roast that baa baa Steve Re: Timber - Eastern Subs Melb 14Dec 11, 2007 11:47 am mattwalker actually its not that one (looks more like an outdoor furniture place actually) its Chippy's: http://www.chippystimber.com.au/ EDIT: beaten by eimaj Re: Timber - Eastern Subs Melb 16Dec 11, 2007 11:57 am Rob Cousens promote the largest indoor display of timber flooring in Melbourne.
Haven't been there but they advertise on the radio a lot!! Re: Timber - Eastern Subs Melb 17Dec 11, 2007 1:34 pm _Al_ eimaj This place is very good - great selection. From $3.15 (2.1m) to $4 (5m) Perhaps because it is a tropical rainforest timber. Do the world a favour - buy a eucalypt instead. The radially sawn timber is a great idea ... Radcon are doing some great stuff with smaller trees. Re: Timber - Eastern Subs Melb 18Dec 11, 2007 5:06 pm Its because its harder to sell a pack of 'shorts' than a pack of 'longs' and you end up with more shorts.
Merbau could be available in lengths well over 6 metres save for the fact it has to be put into 20ft containers to come here - hence you cannot buy a length of merbau in any size longer than 5.7m Re: Timber - Eastern Subs Melb 19Dec 11, 2007 7:12 pm mattwalker Rob Cousens promote the largest indoor display of timber flooring in Melbourne. Haven't been there but they advertise on the radio a lot!! haven't heard them on the radio but maybe they are talking about indoor timber flooring as opposed to decking? Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 16402 Thanks Simon, I guess I'm no concerned with the volume of the noise rather that dead and hollow sound and feel that is associated with floating floors. But I'm not sure… 3 6438 The most likely cause of your timber swelling (parquetry?) is either a plumbing leak or carelessly leaving water on floors after use or both. Without seeing, i am ignoring… 1 3471 |
