No 'wow' :( Help with Homestead Tan bricks

Mish and others, can you help me please?

Hubby and I went and chose colours for our home and I did a crappy job of 'painting' it all together and it doesnt look 'wow'.

I think its the render, and so do some of the MV girls? It looks a little too 'creamy'?

Mind you, this is not our final front elevations either (its just a photo of what we originally had - we know have one of those gorgeous portico things, hopefully!)

We love the brick, so that stays

And hubby picked the stack stone which I quite like too. Gutters/fascia etc Im happy to play around with, as with the render colour.

I dont know how you do it Mish! Its bloody hard

I am having the same problem. Scroll hald way down the thread to see the picture of a house I am basing my colours on. It has the Homestead Tan brick, with the dark roof tiles, and the paperbark fascias. THe render colour matches the paperbark. I also liked the way they picked the windows as a white birch to stand out with the mortar, as opposed to a paperbark.

Now Im thinking we have too much render as well as the crappy colour... Maybe we should just do the right hand side?

You've got a lot of colours going on (esp with the stack stone) and I don't think it's blending well....

see what mish has to say.

Where you have gone wrong is with the stackstone colour…..only, everything else is looking good.

This is the colour or similar to what you should be looking for.

Actually, I think you may be right looking at the PD Access Chalet and Rome facade.... kind of similar in colours isnt it?

HTB suggested a grey render too, any ideas what type of grey??

We used a really nice grey on the front of our house as a feature called Dulux Stepney, it's not very dark. I'll see if I have a close up shot and pm it to you.

Perhaps a rustic colour or brown tone or darker cream colour to pick up the earthy colour in the stackstone??

Bam, your original stack stone choice is competing with your brick in colour.
That’s why I suggested a lighter one so it goes with every selection.

The amount of render is fine.

Get samples Bam, that’s the only way to get it right.

We had samples next to each other and it looked nice til I put it all on the facade

Ive asked Austral to send me some pics of houses in the area. And I saw some tonight too which got me thinking. Unfortunately my camera phone doesnt work so Ill have to remember to take the proper camera.

How do I get samples of bricks, render and stackstone :th:
