Browse Forums Windows & Doors Re: Roller Shutters vs Security Grilles vs Clear Mesh 4Jun 29, 2009 4:25 am I have security grilles and Im a big a fan of them now. the standard grilles let you leave windows open without inviting someone to break in and it would be harder and noisier to break in through a fixed panel (not impossible but I dont think it's very common). If there ever were a house fire, it still leaves you the option of smashing a fixed pane of glass to get out if necessary. From a security point of view they do give a visual deterrent to thieves, and you can leave the windows open at night for a breeze or when you're out. We've lived here 10 years and in that time quite a few houses in our street have been broken into but we havent and I think the only reason is because of the grilles. I dont believe we were just lucky by chance when so many houses around us were chosen instead but I think thieves just figure they'll find an easier house to target. Re: Roller Shutters vs Security Grilles vs Clear Mesh 5Jul 01, 2009 11:56 pm Yes I agree with what you are saying but am very security conscious living on my own. Having been broken into on a few occassions now both being at home and not being home I am in some what of a quandry on the best option for my situation. I will get a few more quotes on different alternatives before I make a decision. Good to get the different opinions though. Re: Roller Shutters vs Security Grilles vs Clear Mesh 6Jul 02, 2009 12:03 am Yes I am funny ! Roller shutters aren't cheap there is a $6500 price difference between security grilles and the roller shutters. My main concern is security and peace of mind. See quote above to see further into my situation. Helyn That is funny Jbaby, you are quoting yourself We have roller shutters on our 2 front windows - 4 really as one is a bay window with 3 sections - I really like them but they're not cheap, its not so much for the security for us but the blocking out of noise and light which they do an excellent job, we are shiftworkers and we sleep during the day so this is really important for us. Hello everyone Please advice me how can I install mesh security window or we cab say mesh flyscreen inside while the pvc plantation shutters are already installed? Is… 0 12238 MATE!!! I've checked their website and it's a 90% match at least. I've just called them and sent the pic through to confirm it's the same product. Thank you heaps. 3 7115 |
