Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 May 16, 2009 4:18 pm Hi, long time reader of this forum and this is my first post..eek! We'll my husband and I are planning on renovating our home built in the 80's (read:brown, brown, brown), but I don't know what to do with the exterior, in terms of colour. We are definetely going to render the dark brown bricks, and recoat the roof tiles, which are currently brown. The gutters are forrest green and the window frames (i think they call them colonial style?) are metallic brown. What I'd love would be white shutters but what colour window frame would suit? do they have to be white? If I do have white window frames, would a dark roof tile colour match? We are not considering changing roof to tin. We plan on painting the render or creamy sandy colour. Does anyone have any pics or links to houses with white window treatments and tile roofs? TIA Re: Exterior colour ideas for roof, render needed please... 2May 17, 2009 9:01 am What about a nice deep modern chocolate (not 80's poo brown) for the roof tiles. Why don't you ring one of the tile recoaters and ask them to send you a sample chart of colours? I think maybe you could consider going with lighter neutrals, like all the sandy colours you mentioned. I think the white window frames would look good and still go with a chocolate roof. I guess then they would blend with the window frames as one? Or you could go a nice light light grey for the roof? I guess you could also look at the shutter companies websites as they may have pics of whole houses with shutters and you could see what colour schemes they have used. I hope to see your pics on here soon www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Exterior colour ideas for roof, render needed please... 3May 17, 2009 7:26 pm Thanks ..themax..will put some 'before' pics up soon. I was driving around today and I think the sandy colours may be the way to go for the render. Possibly match the gutters with the window frames and go for a chocolatey or charcoal roof tile. I had grey render and charcoal tile at my last house and i ended up liking it. Hi all, I am currently building through Simmonds and stuck deciding on my exterior cement roof titles and brick colours.
