Hi all

Just starting the journey with Masterton and building the Aston Exclusive.

Will share the journey in case it's helpful to others.

Tender 30 April 2024
Contract signed 20 June 2024

DA submitted - Oct 24
DA approved - Jan 25

Currently arranging a separate construction certificate for the pool so that the pool works can commence asap whilst Masterton arrange the construction certificate for the house. It is referred to as a 2 stage build. Drop in the pool, cover it up and then Masterton take over and pour the slab. Once the house is finished the pool guys come back and do the rest of it. A necessary juggling act for what we wanted to achieve.

Would love to know how you are going. We are looking at an Aston with Masterton and curious about how your build time is going.

Hi Paul - going very well. The build has been smooth as. Can't speak highly enough of Masterton with the build process, the trades they use, quality and communication etc. On track to be completed within the contract building time frame. The issue with timing you may have will be in the preconstruction phase with all the documentation - that takes ages. Go to 'Building with Masterton' on facebook - heaps of information there. We had a meeting with them over the wekened and they did indicate the upfront does have some time to it.

I am also curious how you managed the pool build. Did you coordinate the dig and install with your demo contractor?

Yep- you need to stay on the details and keep hassling them in the documentation stage. It’s all worth it though !

With the pool it was a little complex - once all approvals from council were received for everything we did the demo then the pool company came, excavated and did the pool, then we handed the site over to Masterton - so a lot of project management that we had to do personally.
