Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 08, 2025 12:48 pm Hi. I am currently doing abolishment of electricity. Currently I am connecting overhead power line from the opposite side pole (Ausnet). Some one told me he just got underground pit installed like this cost 20K (OMG). There is no underground pit in my court (all old houses). I am thinking of get a lv2 electrician install a private pole in the front yard and connect to the opposite pole then dig a trench and connect to the new house for construction and later permanant use. Can someone tell me if this is possible? I live in eastern sub Melbourne. Thanks. Re: New house power connection through a private pole? 2Oct 01, 2025 2:05 am Hey Mate, how did it go for you? As for abolishment, usually the property owner bears the cost unless the pole is on shared land. Definitely worth getting a few quotes before committing. Hey Mate, how did it go for you?
