Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Tru Built - Sunshine Coast 90Sep 14, 2023 6:38 pm AFALDT ** Hand Over ** Construction day 152 (Week 57) : 14 September 2023 One year and 28 days after commencement, we have now received the keys, maintenance instructions and a lovely little hamper. Very mixed emotions: worried about finances, glad to be at the 'end' (of the beginning), excited to be moving in. I hope you've all enjoyed the 'build log'! I'll do my best to provide regular updates during 'year 1'. Home insurance purchased, about $3500 p/yr (budget direct). Moving day is booked for Mon 25 Sep. Time to get packing! Fly screens / security screens / window & door adjustments are the main outstanding item, due last week of September. My father and I have begun work on the concrete apron in front of the triple garage, due to be completed on or before move in day. Even if you have cement sheeting in the wet areas, get a top loader for your washing machine. The modern front loaders move clothes up and down which is a direction that joists can't absorb and you end up with cracked grout or vibrations neighbouring rooms as the sheeting tries to move up and down with the change in direction of the force. Often this isn't an issue but when there's not much weight between a washer and the neighbouring rooms it can be really noticeable. I just lived with the vibrations but then had to redo a bathroom as a result!
