Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Kitchen Quote advice please! 4Aug 05, 2023 1:44 am As others have said standard kitchens have 500ish drawer runners. Depending on brands used they may be slightly longer or shorter but around abouts 500 is typical. The question I would ask is, what is the brand of the standard drawer hardware and what is the longer drawer hardware. Your upgrade cost for the 12 drawers is $241 per drawer. If it's going from a more cost effective hardware solution to a top tier hardware then the cost is maybe understandable but if you were already getting the top tier hardware then the upgrade shouldn't be that much. Bare minimum. I've seen almost 100% markup in some cases. Its funny first house i built, i opted to not pay the stupid premium on soft close mechanisms. Was over 4k for the kitchen. The mechanisms ive since seen at bunnings (haffelle, Haffe or something) and they look like rubbish. Current house, blum soft close everything in every part f the house as standard in the base price. I was being kind to the builder. With the amount charged for the upgrade the builder is probably charging closer to 100% margin. There are a few variables as I mentioned in my initial post but I would love to be able to charge that sort of upgrade price.
