We took possession of our new build almost 5 months ago. As part of the 3 month check up, we listed a few pretty minor things that were attended to or checked without fuss. However, one of the issues I raised was the beginning of floor board creaks at the top of the stairs. General creaks/cracks from the floor when it gets walked on first thing in the morning, isn't a problem. The floor cracks/creaks once and that's it. But there are a few spots where the boards creak quite loudly. The 5 month old house sounds like it's been here 50 years. Anyway, I raised this as part of our 3 month checkup, but that issue was basically brushed aside on the grounds that board creaks generally wouldn't even get a look in at the 3 month checkup since the issue would usually resolve itself over time.
I don't buy that.
Am I now stuck with creaky boards to remediate on my new build at my expense?
