Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 13, 2022 11:52 am Have promised the kids a tree house - and now have to deliver! The intent was always to build a platform rather than attach to the tree, however digging the post holes I found so many large roots that I think the dig would seriously damage the tree. I'm planning an alternative as indicated in the photo sketch. Bolting the posts to a support frame that would sit on the ground. All posts and supports are large and heavy 150mmx150mm timber. Tree house platform will only be 1.55m high. My questions to you guys are.. 1) Do you think this freestanding design will be structurally strong enough without the posts concreted into the ground? I assume some diagonal bracing may help 2) What kind of fasteners would you use in positions 1 to attach the support posts to the frame on the ground Thanks so much for your advice!! My understanding is that will prevent any risk of the vertical beams moving about, essentially turning the bottom section into a crate. Hello. I just bought a few acres in Habana, Mackay, and my horses seem to love hanging around under this tree. I would like to name the paddock after this tree. Can… 0 10002 Fellow Perth dweller. Looks like pruns nigra. It's a dark leaf flowering plum. Doesn't get massive and is easily trimmed deciduous tree. Very popular in small gardens in Perth 7 3266 |
