Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Nov 19, 2021 1:58 pm Hello everyone, Newbie here, sorry if this is not the right place to post my query. We are planning to build an extension at the side of our house which is a corner block. This is Boroondara council in Victoria. The requirement for a side setback is 2m. Our proposed single story extension is 1.5m from the boundary, however adjoining the boundary wall (which is just 40cm high) is a 50cm wide garden bed (see pic below). Not sure if this is on title (will have to get a survey done). If I include this garden bed then the setback from the footpath meets the required 2m. Could anyone share their experience/thoughts on whether we can get our plan approved or will Council simply reject it straightaway? Thanks for any advice. . Really helpful. Are dimensions reasonably accurate? Looks like the garden bed outside the compound wall is on title as per mapshare. Plan to take an appointment and visit the council soon.
