Re: Do you pay Land Tax while you are building your new home 5Sep 30, 2021 4:11 pm Hi Simeon You are right. As long as you (or someone in your family) don't own and claim another property as your primary residence you can get an exemption on the land you are building your new home on. So basically as long as you are renting while you build you can claim the exemption. I was trying to remember how we got around paying land tax on our last block. Re: Do you pay Land Tax while you are building your new home 8Sep 07, 2022 6:59 am Ashington Homes TTTx I'm doing a knock down rebuild. I bought a old house in end of 2020. The building demolished in May 2021 and the build started. I received a landtax bill for 2021 tax year as I owned the property on 31 of December 2020. Anyone have the same situation? I'm in NSW. Hi TTTx In NSW there is an exemption when building. here is the link: https://www.revenue.nsw.gov.au/taxes-du ... oncessions We have had clients successfully apply for the concession. Get some advice from your accountant cheers Simeon Hi everyone I just came across this post. We settled on our block in June 2017. After a false start trying to owner build we built with a project home builder and finally moved in this year in Feb. We received a land tax bill. Apparently there is a time limit to claiming the exemption. Our build contract was 42 weeks which, with delays and Covid, stretched to over 12 months. We are looking at going to NCAT as our first objection was overturned. Any advice please?🙏 Re: Do you pay Land Tax while you are building your new home 9Sep 28, 2022 11:13 am Hi everyone, Same here, I am doing the knock down and rebuild in Sydney NSW. I bought the old house in sept 2019 and started the tenderJuly 2020, then council approval and the resubmission for changed plan due to avoiding the roots of neighbour heritage trees. The house started in last Oct/Nov , for all sort of reasons like Covid delays, supply chains of timber /materials/labours…. till now, still in bricklaying and towards the roof. I have been paying the land tax for last two years. I wanna to know how to claim the exemptions too. What do you suggest and how do I start first ? the exemption applies only to your principal place of residence - so you must live in it. The 200 days is continuous. You also have to apply for the exemption. 2 13447 If it's your primary residence then there is no tax deductions to be made. 4 125863 Hello everyone Please advice me how can I install mesh security window or we cab say mesh flyscreen inside while the pvc plantation shutters are already installed?
