Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Timing moving out & demolition 8Mar 23, 2009 8:59 am brittany We were booked to demolish in September - it took till late November to happen. So much for the promises of the demolition company. One excuse after another. Then our block sat vacant for four months before anything happened. We were in too much of a rush but no-one else was! I can't tell you how frustrating it is!!! Same scenario here too... I packed up the house and organised to move out as soon as I could. The demolishes couldn't come in until the gas and electricity had been abolished. This process in itself took 20 working days. On top of that, the demolishes took 3 weeks to complete the job. It then took the building company just over 100 days to begin building after the site was completely cleared and handed over to them. In the end, I was out of the old house for 5 months before I saw any action...disgusting!! We had no problems with the Council, infact I think the approval went through with in a week. There were no other hold ups at all, just people and pathetic customer service. Good luck! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! There were no other hold ups at all, just people and pathetic customer service. Good luck! Oh my god a week!!!??? It's taken that long for my council to send out the letter to notify my neighbours of our application of which they then have a two week window to complain! Joke. Utter joke. Re: Timing moving out & demolition 10May 02, 2009 6:15 pm We are also going through it. We are moving into our shed - sad thing is the shed is about the same size as current house! We need to deck out shed with bathroom and electricity. Have called 5 electricians only one has turned up and didn't send the quote grrrr. Frustrating thing is that we can't move out until shed is decked out, can't do shed walls without wiring, ETSA wont give us two power supplies so they have to be switched over at same time, house is partially renovated so want to have a pre deomolishion sale, can't sell kitchen and windows until moved out. On top of all that we are trying to build a new home! The chandelier in question is quite large, measuring 4 meters… 0 72722 4 15137 Unless there is something in special conditions the builder does not have to give you timeline.
