That way the tension is taken through a solid fixing. Realistically that would be enough to take the full weight of the speaker and bracket. Any screws at the bottom are taking more sheer force and are more for location so even a wall mate would do. I have hung a heavy mirror on a wall without a stud just using toggle bolts and it did a great job. The only thing with these speakers that I'm not sure about is the fact that they extend out from the wall by 40cm. Is this type of weight (I think it's called tensile weight when the weight is being pulled away from the wall rather than straight down?) going to have an adverse effect using plasterboard fixings only? thanks You can put two bolts in the bottom of the fixture as they will be having more load.
