Mcdonald Jones Homes Vs Masterton

HI Everyone

We are just beginning our journey of building our 2 storey home in Sydney NSW and wanted opinions on what people think of overall quality/cost/time to build between Masterton and Mcdonald Jones. Currently looking at Bridgetown 33 design (Mcdonald Jones) and Synergy 29 design (Masteron).

Both are reasonable quality but Masterton are so slowwwww in build time.

My niece just built with Masterton in western Sydney. Quality was ok for the price. A few issues along the way but nothing major.

They built a single storey, i think the Cello design with slight variations.

Overall their happy, but it was a slow build.

i got a sense of that as well when the sales agent kept saying that their focus is on quality so may take extra time to deliver.

Any opinions on costs? As a first timer am struggling to understand who is cost effective. For one of them their inclusions are high and for the other i need to pay for the same inclusions but a lower base price.

There was a Mastertons complimentary deal in May valued $18k that provided complimentary upgraded facade bricks, 40mm wtaerfall ends on kitchen island, lighting package incl. 30 downlights, full height tiling to main bathroom and ensuite, 2 decorative niches, flyscreens on all windows and sliding doors, keyless front door entry, 2 additional free pot drawers, external ducting to kitchen rangehood, slimline flush kitchen sink, powder room upgrade. This was in addition to ultimate inclusions (valued $80k)

You could ask here what the usual contract period goes into the HIA contract who have built with Masterton. You will know average time to build. There is a masterton build few doors down from where I live in South Sydney which has been left with no work for months. May be 6 months. Not sure whats the issue there. If its for that long, couldn't be builder, may be some other issues. But that build has beem going on for nearly 2 years at least.

I wouldn't compare based on base price or promitions etc... the best way to compare is to understand the overall price and what's included in that.

Ignore promos and their billion dollar giveaways. Just treat them as line items and do your comparisons as if they are just inclusions.
