Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Apr 26, 2019 9:28 am Gday everyone, Im in a bit of a pickle. I dug down beside the house in a couple of spots to check if there was any water pooling beside the house. The drainage is pretty terrible as the water comes down the drive hits the house then soaks in through the dirt pooling at the clay bottom beside the footings. About 1m down. I know that the drainage must be fixed to stop and divert the water away so thats deffinately an asap job. The question i ask is once i fix this problem and the ground dries up around and under the house slab, will this cause the foundations to crack and create more problems down the track. There is already a bit of cracking happening on the render of the outside. Its been very dry here in tassie and i have pumped about 80liters of water out of the pilot holes. Any information woul be much appreciated. Cheers skrout Re: Foundation holding water. 2Apr 26, 2019 10:00 am How old is your home, have you got soil report, can you get some photos posted? We have been in it for about 5 years now and have started noticing the cracks occuring on the render which is applied to bessa blocks. 2 story. We havnt got a soil test done either. Re: Foundation holding water. 4Apr 26, 2019 11:03 am There are too many unknowns for a meaningful response. You should have your home inspected by experienced building consultant who will determine what is happening with your home and recommend a remedy. Having said that, water in foundations is never good.
