Need advice 4Aug 14, 2018 9:18 pm You'll find the RXYQ10TY1A will be more efficient overall even with the greater output for heating and cooling. It has a maximum consumption of 7.04kW in cooling and 7.29kW in heating as opposed to the FDYQN250 which will draw 7.85kW in cooling and 8.47kW in heating. VRV means Variable Refrigerant Volume meaning the system will only pump the required refrigerant to satisfy the heating or cooling requirements of the indoor unit. Plenty of reading material online if you're interested in how it works. The RXYQ10TY1A will be able to ramp down to ~16% of rated capacity whereas the FDYQN250 will only be able to generally ramp down to ~60%. hth Re: Please help. Need advice 5Aug 14, 2018 9:34 pm thanks so much bels. Looks like it's making a lot of sense to spend the extra money for long term gain overall. Love the facts you have given. One more question, what are your thoughts on the my air controller or one that can adjust room by room air flow as well as other features. By doing this, will it be more efficient or just a convenience thing. My air touch screen is $1700 or a lesser type for around $900. Or just stick with the standard zone control only Re: Please help. Need advice 7Aug 14, 2018 9:52 pm Re: Please help. Need advice 8Aug 14, 2018 10:10 pm From what I can gather it just looks like a fancy zone controller that also utilizes modulating zone dampers and differential pressure sensors. Whether it can save you more money over standard zone controllers is anyone's guess as it's mainly marketing spiel. Up to you in the end if you can see value in it and want to take the plunge. Yeah only happy to spend more $$$ if it’s features save me in efficiency/power bills, well helps in reducing them, otherwise the look of it doesn’t bother me Metricon Franklin 53 modified Re: Please help. Need advice 10Aug 14, 2018 10:54 pm The modulating damper feature will save you something compared to the traditional zone controller with on/off control of the air to zones. It's just if you can see the value in the return on investment and how long it will take to payback. Re: Please help. I just wanted to hear all this from a neutral and not just the sale pitch from supplier. What I might do now is exactly that. I’m going to ask them to provide these specs if they can and make a call on it then, also taking into consideration the advice from here as well. Thanks again Metricon Franklin 53 modified Thank you @.
