Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 02, 2018 3:05 pm Can anyone here who's built with Rawson Homes tell me what they use as their standard bricks and cladding range are like? I'm asking because they have a birthday promotion that includes upgraded roof tiles from CSR Monier, upgraded bricks from CSR PGH and cladding from (you guessed it!) CSR Cemintel and I'm wondering if it' worth it (considering that I really wanted a colour bond roof. Thanks Steeden Re: Rawson Homes standard bricks & cladding 2Jul 02, 2018 5:02 pm Steeden Can anyone here who's built with Rawson Homes tell me what they use as their standard bricks and cladding range are like? Rawson price bricks from both suppliers into 10 tiers, and while the smoother bricks cost more to make and handle for the supplier, they also carry a premium for the brick layers. If they have really smooth brick to lay, which will show chips and sloppy work easily, they price in the extra time to lay it and also wastage of the bricks they'll can't use due to being damaged/chipped whilst handling it. I guess they price it to discourage some selections as well due to the hassle of laying and possible compaints on the finish. Depending what brick you upgrade too, it might only be a few thousand. Standard Lux pgh bricks are: Desert, Summervilla, Townhouse, Elements and Foundations. (Although that might have changed so check with Rawson) If you combine the two 40th anniv offers, the second offer get added for an extra $16k as well, (its not just 2 x 9990) so even less attractive. You also only get the $70k value if you choose the street appeal offer, I think the solar one is closer to $62k. The Austral ultra smooth Jazz that i think is on the Edge at Kellyville is a level 10 brick. Steeden Re: Rawson Homes standard bricks & cladding 5Jul 03, 2018 11:13 am Hi Steeden, Rawson divide the each brick range from PGH and Austral into 10 price brackets or levels, and even though Jazz is not the most expensive brick if you were to buy directly from Austral, Rawson and their brickies put a premium on it. So its the most expensive brick to select from Austral when building with Rawson and is in the 10th price bracket. Also if a brick is solid it seems to attract a premium due to its extra weight for the brickies, like the Bowral range. Anyway, confirm with Rawson on the likely upgrade prices for your build if you are going to decide between the current offer, but you could probably expect to pay a 3-4 thousand unless you really need had to have one of more expensive bricks. You may also be lucky and like the standard brick ranges. I don't know why Rawson make it so hard to work out the likely cost of a build, maybe to hide the extra thousands people pay upgrading? Depending on what design changes you make and your selections you could add 80k to a lux design, not including site costs, landscaping etc. Re: Rawson Homes standard bricks & cladding 6Jul 14, 2018 2:29 am Hi luxbuild, Prior to tender we asked for the as displayed upgrade pricelists for each of the displays we liked. This allowed us to get a good idea of what the likely costs would be. We are building a Chifley 37MKII with LUX spec and Extras Extravaganza. Even still we have put in around $130k in upgrades, and that does not include the final internals upgrades and landscaping! One of the main reasons we decided to go with Rawson over another builder was that they said they were upfront in terms of costs. If you are after a standard spec house then there wouldn't be much difference between what you would be quoted at sales and what the 'final' price would be, subject to unforeseen site costs, council requirements etc. We have asked for lots of things to be priced as variations along the way so far so that we have as much information at hand to make informed decisions regarding upgrades. You can easily just tell them you aren't interested in something once you get the price back and they will delete it. Try to get as many of these at once as possible to avoid the $450 admin fee. Just started the Build process for Chifley 42 with Rawson homes, will keep you all posted with the Build progress. 0 3548 Re my second point – yes exactly.
