Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Wisdom Homes Aspiration 31 @ Willowdale 27Jun 16, 2018 4:42 pm We had a call about 2 weeks ago that we had to update our electrical plan because the wall lights in our bathroom no longer met code Wisdom gave us the option to move or delete them but in the end we agreed to move a few other lights around too and put those wall lights above our vanity in the ensuite so we can now put in these lights Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It worked out pretty well as I was a bit hesitant about the lights by the bath anyway and these lights weren’t available when we did our original electrical plan. Now I just have to go to Beacon and change our order. We ordered our main living room sofas today from Domayne Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We opted for a 2.5 and 3 seater rather than one with a chaise. Our current sofa has a chaise but the way the cushion is cut it can’t be flipped, so it has a big stain on it that won’t come out and we can’t hide. Not making that mistake again! We also picked this 3 seater that has 2 electric recliners and a flip down table behind the middle seat with lights, USB and power points for our media room from Harvey Norman. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ There were much nicer looking ones out there but the media room is the one room I concede it really doesn’t matter and I wanted something super comfortable. We basically want our own mini gold class room for 2 The next debate for that room is 75” or 82” TV Building Wisdom Aspiration 31 at Willowdale https://ourwillowdalehome.wordpress.com/ Re: Wisdom Homes Aspiration 31 @ Willowdale 29Jun 16, 2018 5:06 pm Love it JM!!! Wish we could get the recliners like that for our media room. But my three kids will fight over it! Our media room is narrow but long so I struggling to find a modular that fits! I think those two recliners will fit though - for hubby and I. I'll make three monkeys sit on bean bags HAHAHA Re: Wisdom Homes Aspiration 31 @ Willowdale 30Jul 03, 2018 7:24 am We had our prelinings inspections in the last week of June. We arranged for an independent inspector (HK Ryan) to check everything was to code and they only found a few minor issues: - Weepholes needed to be cleared in some spots on the brick work (they still have the foam blockers in them at the moment) - Sewer vent pipe was not the correct length (SS already knew about this) - Couple of floor trusses needed to be reinforced where they attached to the frame - Laundry wall needed restraightening Not too bad, the inspector said it was pretty good by project home standards. Building Wisdom Aspiration 31 at Willowdale https://ourwillowdalehome.wordpress.com/ Re: Wisdom Homes Aspiration 31 @ Willowdale 31Jul 03, 2018 7:34 am We also did our own walkthrough at prelinings stage to verify all our electrical was in the right place and get photos of where all the wires were run for future reference. Only issues we picked up on was our vanity power points are meant to be in the cabinet for most wet rooms and they had been roughed in at counter height. 2 our of 4 wall blocking areas were also missing. We opted for bullnose plates to run cables between the TV and components - it doesn’t appear to include a sealed conduit in the wall. Building Wisdom Aspiration 31 at Willowdale https://ourwillowdalehome.wordpress.com/ Re: Wisdom Homes Aspiration 31 @ Willowdale 32Jul 03, 2018 7:39 am Turns out Wisdom are well motivated by end of the tax year and it all became clear why they were pushing so much work through so quickly when we got our gyprock invoice on Saturday afternoon (30th June!). The remediation work from the inspections was only finished on Friday so they finished all the gyprock work in 2 days. Insulation went in on Thursday - SS sent over a photo to let me know it was done Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Then we went and checked the gyprock on Sunday before signing off the next progress payment as I was having a hard time believing it was done. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Really regretting that we didn’t realise it was going to be so high in comparison to our house when we got the DA plans sent to us as their neighbour It looks completely out of place among all the other houses with normal roofs. Building Wisdom Aspiration 31 at Willowdale https://ourwillowdalehome.wordpress.com/ Re: Wisdom Homes Aspiration 31 @ Willowdale 33Jul 11, 2018 7:24 am Progress last week was finishing off all the gyprock and coving install. Not a lot of difference to see because it was mostly filling gaps in the plasterboard and sanding the walls smooth Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Electrical cutouts are done as well. You can just about see some switch outlet holes at the back of the garage. This week is a big week - waterproofing for all our wet areas was completed yesterday, then our staircase is being installed today followed by carpenter on site for the rest of the week to fit all our architraves and doors. Hoping that might mean we see our front door soon 🤞 Our last neighbours to start had their lot filled with waffle pods so it looks like their slab is about to go down finally. Hoping it’s a really efficient private builder so we don’t have to live next to a build site too long Building Wisdom Aspiration 31 at Willowdale https://ourwillowdalehome.wordpress.com/ Re: Wisdom Homes Aspiration 31 @ Willowdale 34Apr 30, 2020 2:10 pm Your house looks great. we are thinking to go with wisdom homes as well .. but they dont do provincial facades. BTW who built your neighbor? same wisdom homes? Can someone please offer some advice? Im DESPERATE. Because I'm completely and utterly exhausted.
