Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Custom Hamptons Inspired Home - Frame Stage 482Sep 26, 2017 10:57 pm Magavin Oh Dani that floor is gorgeous!! I can't wait to see it laid! Looks like it will complement your other choices perfectly Hope things start to charge ahead for you soon the wait is so frustrating! Will be totally worth it in the end though Thanks Mags. I'm a little nervous to be honest! Got to try and not second guess myself. Our brickie is supposed to start tomorrow or Thursday. Really hope it doesn't get delayed until next week. Hate going past on the weekend and seeing nothing new How's things at your lovely place? Anything new? Totally understand everybody's pain on the curtain front, we were quoted $3.5k for 3x sheets and 1x blockout curtain which was apparently with 60% off but because we weren't ready to commit as hadn't gotten our keys yet and had a feel for the completed space the normal price was over $7k. So much more expensive than we were expecting as have never had professionally made curtains before! It's great when you can actually see things changing every time you go out We're in and mostly painted, just a couple rooms left but between work, unpacking boxes, completing an assignment, sitting exams and keeping my little miss out of trouble over the school holidays it's been a challenging last month! We also managed to accidentally drop our large television while we were moving and have only just sorted it out with our insurance company and got a new one this week! Love it looks great! Re: Our Custom Hamptons Inspired Home - Frame Stage 492Oct 18, 2017 7:40 pm Hey guys, sorry I've been MIA of late. How's everyone else going? Not much to report this week. Garage roof trusses got stolen before they could be installed along with our upstairs loo window. Gotta laugh at that! Roof trusses promptly reordered and installed. Scaffolding is back up to finish off upstairs. Hubby met with the SS las week to discuss our alfresco ceiling. SS was concerned about having plasterboard, as a part from the eaves, there is no protection from rain coming in. Have opted for cement sheeting for now which is apparently more waterproof, hope it looks okay! Currently investigating some sort of timber panels on the ceiling instead, something like this. Sorry for the poor photo. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And in other news, had to confirm our garage door colour and decided to skip the upgrade to a powder coated white and instead stick with standard colorbond in surfmist. Figured pure white would be too stark, and have seen many nice houses with surfmist which looks white enough and will also match our gutters etc. Our 37sq Custom Hamptons Inspired Home: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86931 Re: Our Custom Hamptons Inspired Home - Frame Stage 493Oct 18, 2017 7:48 pm Bummer about the trusses!! Does builders insurance cover all that? I was so paranoid about my windows getting stolen the Builder had them sitting in my neighbours driveway for a good 6 weeks and oddly not one went missing. Makes me wonder how is someone supposed to use a custom stolen windows seriously?! Hope they sort it soon Hey also don't worry about the panelling I'm actually considering upgrading my alfresco plaster to what you were taking about too. They look was better than normal plaster. It was already installed upstairs, so someone had to climb up the temporary ladder and take it down again. Would have been a bit of effort... Thanks for the pic, yeah that looks really good. I've been looking at the easy clad product by easy craft as an option. Have you heard of them? Getting my SS to look into it for me as no idea of quality or cost. We probably will end up painting it white after handover but I wanted to wait and see how it ends up looking once the decking goes in below. We got the same on the front porch. Just a shame to spend 5K+ on something that you don’t end up liking very much but I still think it looks better than just plaster. - View my blog at www.waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.com Re: Our Custom Hamptons Inspired Home - Frame Stage 498Oct 19, 2017 6:20 am Waldorf_Grange_Build We probably will end up painting it white after handover but I wanted to wait and see how it ends up looking once the decking goes in below. Was not expecting that much. But yes, will definitely look amazing and so much better than plaster! Re: Our Custom Hamptons Inspired Home - Frame Stage 499Oct 20, 2017 9:10 pm Never heard of it. Please let me know how you go Re: Our Custom Hamptons Inspired Home - Frame Stage 500Oct 24, 2017 7:04 am So the latest is: - Scaffolding is back up but no sign of linea boards yet - Quote from Stone Ambassador came in just over $1K cheaper than Caesarstone (very similar products/colours). Was hoping it would be a lot cheaper than that but I’ll take it! Maybe if we were having stone instead of laminate in the laundry and upstairs bath... - Builder came across a problem with our elevations in terms of our garage roof line. Turns out a last minute change to raise the roof line to get developer approval affected our upstairs rear windows windows and the front upstairs window over the garage. This was not picked up. We now need to raise the rear upstairs windows by 100mm which is no big deal. But the front upstairs window above the garage is too long. We now need to order a new, shorter window for that. Hope it doesn’t look terrible given the corresponding window on the other side will be longer Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ - Still waiting to have water tapping issue sorted. The infrastructure manager went out to inspect a few weeks ago and believes the point can be moved to the side of our driveway and tucked behind our retaining wall and this would be a lot better than relocating it to the other side of the block. Now just need confirmation from the water company. - Having second thoughts about our white subway wall tiles in the ensuite, powder etc. they are not really a traditional size being 100x300 which the tile consultant convinced me are less busy than smaller tiles and obviously they are way cheaper. BUT... is it going to look tacky?? Maybe just need to see more pics online to reassure myself lol like this one. Guess I’m just used to seeing the smaller ones on Pinterest which are more common Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hi, can anyone recommend a custom home builder who can build in north east area?
