Light Provision: To add a light point (is $75 from your post) 2. Light Fitting: The actual light (LED, pendents, etc) - Whatever they or their supplier charges 3. Light Fitting Installation: Charge to install the light fitting from point 2. (Is $23 from your post) You will need to get them to provision the light (point 1). You can do points 2 & 3 after handover as it will we cheaper. I was looking for the same kind of opinion on what it would be like when we add only provisioning for down lights and fix them later. I read some where on this forum to take a copy of the electrical design to a specialist like beacon lightning or other shops and draw up a plan. Looks there will be a huge difference in prices. Further, if you are building a 2 storey - remember ground floor u can't add downlights later - or very hard if you don't add the points - the best thing get the ground floor downlights from the builder and the upper level you can just keep the basic points and then do later - the best thing is check with an electrician showing your plans how much he will charge follow my build Arden homes Votivo 37 iin south east: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=88622 Re: Electrical Plan Advise? + Downlights after installation 5Sep 08, 2017 2:41 pm Thank you for the advice guys. Can you please also advise downlights added on my Plan look ok? or need more ? I will get upstairs done up later on as you mention pEast I will sort out the ground floor. I thought I must be crazy to pay that amount .. your pricing made me feel better .Again, thanks for your inputs, I will see if I can do downlights on ground floor and then worry about first floor later.. Depends on what u put in a wardrobe I think - that u need to open 2 doors to remove it. There was pretty much no difference in price to do it after handover when you factor in light point + batten light cost, plus removal and install of LED + labour. Not to mention the inconvenience of having to organise it all. Might be different for some - especially if you have close friends / family to do it and won't get charged labour. Agreed - for example - to put a batten point by builder - $55 then u get the electrician to come after handover to convert it into a led downlight plus the cost of a downlight itself. But I was advised by SM to get downlight on the ground floor cos they were giving 35 free led downlight and keep standard battens upstairs and do them later on follow my build Arden homes Votivo 37 iin south east: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=88622 Re: Electrical Plan Advise? + Downlights after installation 14Sep 09, 2017 2:28 pm pEast Depends on what u put in a wardrobe I think - that u need to open 2 doors to remove it. The opening of doors restricts the use of space in a bedroom by half We are hijacking the OP's thread here. Nonetheless, bearing their indulgence for a moment more, it's not about the size of what is in the wardrobe, but having to move the doors back and forth to get the right items out - slide left for shirts, slide right for pants, slide left again for socks I forgot to get out when I was getting the shirt, etc, etc. we have a four-door slider at the moment, and it is just a pain. I see your point about the doors encroaching into the room, but this only happens when the doors are actually open, which is not often, although I expect you meant about the effect it has on the placement of furniture and similar. Both options require some compromise, so Perhaps we'll just have to agree to disagree. Your electrical plan looks fine - the top storey however seems a bit sparse / uneven with lighting so not sure what your plan with that is. We did most of our downlights with plantation paying thier price for new light point wired and install (we purchased the downlights). Cost with P: $75 new point + $23 install + cost of downlights. We added extra downlights with the electrician directly. We just asked our SS if we could talk to electrician about our plan and they had no issue with this - told us that electrician usually contacts you anyway to discuss plan. We added extra downlights with them directly. Cost for this was: $36.36 for new light point + $15.45 for install + cost of downlight. Much more economical.
