Who knows the soil classification and the area well. The quotes I got from the volume builders operating in that area (Metricon, Simonds, Dennis Family, Porter Davis all were in the 20-25K range) that was before the engineering plans. Mine are significantly less than that. There seem to be this blanket application (volume builders) of slapping an automatic 20-25k as an initial quote price. Then I read many threads where people costs had blown out why and I wanted to know why was this. Because if I had to spend another 20-50k on site costs there goes my butlers kitchen, nice en suite, decking, stone benches etc. Re: Our First Home - Ballarat - Engineering Plans, next Cont 73Sep 07, 2017 10:29 am icat2000 what's is of concern to site/construction engineers that do structural repairs is some clients not only get ripped off price wise but get rubbish built to boot... Most people have good reason to worry on big ticket cost items, and this is reflected in surveys and posts, never trust adverting people & Salesman on huge commissions with you hard earned money, always asked for data & proof of upgrade design costs Agreed the extra is better off in your pocket.
