Head over to my build thread and have a look at what we decided to do ourselves, we have saved I estimate about $5000-$7000 . Thanks Caydenn, I'm gonna grab me a a big mug of coffee and stalk all you coral home builder's journey on here. This site is a gem. Re: Coral home Kirra 23 project 15Aug 07, 2017 7:59 pm Tamara1975 Hi Pablo. How exciting! Where on the South side are you building? We are building on acreage in new Beith and our build is happening so fast it is making my head spin! We looked at both elegance and designer and went with designer with upgrades. We estimate we saved around $10,000 doing it this way. We got the upgrade packages and did little individual ones like the mirror wardrobe doors etc. The only things we have ended up with that are different to the elegance inclusions are the internal doors (ours are flush, but they are only around $50 per door to upgrade to the fancy doors), and we don't have sliding door bolts or a power point with a USB charger. It was definitely worthwhile going elegance. Though one thing to thing about is if you want ducted aircon, it may be to go with elegance to get the upgrade. We didn't look into it but we have heard people say that they went elegance to get the aircon.. Hi Tamara, Thanks for the advice. We are building in bayside area. Thornlands. The lots are small and we looking at the narrow lot builds through coral homes. We drawn more to elegance inclusions coz of the ducted aircon. Doing that through a 3rd party might be costly and perhaps quite the hustle. The current promotion is a $1999 dollar upgrade to get ducted plus carpet plus tiling on top of the elegance base price which is a whooping $20,500 more. I would love to be closer to the water. Strangely every time we move it is further inland lol. I think elegance would be worth it for the aircon and flooring option. I spent ages with a calculator going through numbers before we started and for us it was worth it to go designer but could see how it would be better for others to go elegance. Coral build so fast in Brisbane Admin is painfully slow though. Be warned lol Re: Coral home Kirra 23 project 18Aug 07, 2017 8:46 pm Just a few more update: We are waiting to secure finance for a block on which we are to build the house. It is a corner lot 448sqm in size. Since it is a corner lot, we need to allow a 3m setback from the access street. That leaves us with 439sqm to work with. I have share a link to the building plan measurements in greater detail as well as its siting on the lot. We kinda want a bigger ensuite bathroom and taking doug's suggestion on board. https://www.dropbox.com/s/riabjzm8czgau ... 3.png?dl=0 Re: Coral home Kirra 23 project 19Aug 07, 2017 10:20 pm Kejayetu Just a few more update: We are waiting to secure finance for a block on which we are to build the house. We did designer as it worked out cheaper when we added up the extras we wanted to include versus elegance but not sure if this is still the same with current deals with C at moment. You just need to write some lists to wk it out though our SC told us elegance is def worth it for two storey builds. Love yr design too we are doing driveway, aircon, alfresco & portico floor ourselves after handover as it was a few thousand cheaper than what C quoted. We will also do downlights after handover or with electrician if able & not too pricey. We had batten placed where we would want a downright to be. Our electrical was still $$$ & we just changed things to allow for us to do things after handover & added power points on walls with insulation in them as easier during build. Ask away H1 & everyone here has saved us so much money such a fantastic forum Thanks BrownDog. I shall follow your journey just to see how u went with your build. This is a daunting process for a first home buyer and any word of advice is highly appreciated.
