Yep, I can highly recommend it. Best part is visiting the site and seeing things progress -- the frame was probably the most exciting. The worst is relying on trades: if they're busy, they won't show and (here at least) they won't let you know. I get the feeling that, if you're not a registered builder with repeat business, you come very low on their list of priorities. Certainly, be as hands-on as you can -- give everything a go if you're game, and if you have the time. The satisfaction from knowing you're the one who did it is fantastic. It's slow progress, especially as I'm embedding little deck LEDs every 70cm to illuminate the driveway. Luckily the block has an abundance of natural stone. I'm also thinking I might advertise my spare room on AirBnB. Has anyone had any good (or bad) experiences with it and their new houses? My only reservation would be the neighbours' two dogs, who bark constantly throughout the day. Hard to advertise peace and serenity when you live next to a circus...! Wall looks fantastic! We haven't rented out using air BnB but have used it loads to book places to stay in. Best to be honest about the different quirks of the place, then people can decide for themselves Build thread http://tinyurl.com/llgc7yk Re: My new house at Fern Tree, Tasmania 374Jun 26, 2018 5:53 pm Hi, I'm about to do a new roof, love the profile and colour you've chosen! Can I ask is it a Colorbond roofing sheet or some other make and can I also ask what colour you have used? What is the profile called? Would that profile be any more expensive than a standard Colorbond corrugated roof sheet? Regards Barry Hello. I just bought a few acres in Habana, Mackay, and my horses seem to love hanging around under this tree. I would like to name the paddock after this tree. Can… 0 9556 Fellow Perth dweller. Looks like pruns nigra. It's a dark leaf flowering plum. Doesn't get massive and is easily trimmed deciduous tree. Very popular in small gardens in Perth 7 2792 |
