It looks huge Haven't got the plans with me Kylz, but yes. it is huge! 3 metres long, can't recall how wide. We wanted to fill the space, but real reason is the last few houses we have lived in had next to no bench space, so we wanted to make sure there was room for prep as well as sitting to chat or eat on the other side. We don't have a butler's pantry either so the more space the better. Thanks! Re: Our Metricon Duxton 39- Coastal Facade 69Mar 23, 2017 11:11 am PeteK kylz4 Wow, looks amazing Pete!! It's amazing how paint brings the house to life Loving your flooring and your tiles You kitchen looks Devine I see endless hours spent in there. Wow staining looks fabulous. Is your stairs Japan black? And yours doors charcoal? Love your thread Re: Our Metricon Duxton 39- Coastal Facade 70Mar 25, 2017 8:23 am Looks great Pete!! It's all coming together nicely. It's a good feeling when all the selections you chose from samples and tried to envision in your mind actually come to life perfectly Beautiful!!! Re: Our Metricon Duxton 39- Coastal Facade 71Mar 26, 2017 7:22 am 24th March 2017 Today our flyscreens and garage door were installed. Metricon flyscreens look a little flimsy. Hindsight is always wonderful, we forgot to add latches to the back screen doors. We went for a timber-look garage door, which will match nicely with all the decking we'll do around the front door, the raised slab and into the garden. We kept the front door white, which probably needed to match the garage, but we matched to the window colour instead. Temp fences and toilet taken away this week. Is it the Caoba colour? Re: Our Metricon Duxton 39- Coastal Facade 73Mar 26, 2017 8:24 am It is unusual but very pleasing to see the upper roof area draining to its own downpipe rather than to an ugly spreader on the garage roof which often results in the concentrated flow of water causing overflows. While often still compliant, this common practice is bad design.I would however have the downpipe's upper level painted to match the eave and wall. 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage. Cleaner Neater Smarter Cheaper Supa Gutter Pumper. A low cost syphonic eaves gutter overflow solution. Re: Our Metricon Duxton 39- Coastal Facade 75Mar 31, 2017 8:56 am Hi Emmz, no we aren't putting a light above the stairwell. Opted for a couple of lights on the stairs instead. Not sure where they would locate it if so! Will be interesting to see the house at night to determine whether we have enough light. Re: Our Metricon Duxton 39- Coastal Facade 76Mar 31, 2017 9:14 am 31st March 2017 Update- It had been a slow start to the week after a fortnight of action. Our blinds were installed yesterday, don't have a pic yet, but will post over the weekend. We have installed double roller blinds on all windows with the exception of the windows around the outdoor room and 3 horizontal windows in the dining room and above the staircase- these will most likely be covered by shutters, but we will make that decision once we move in. We have kept a single blind on the windows around the outdoor room as we also want to wait until we move in before installing a second sheer blind. Awaiting an update from our SM about 'where' we are at with the build and estimated finish time. As we know, M don't like to give a finishing date until a few weeks out, but we really want to have some sort of indication! There is not a load of work still to do in terms of major items, other than the tiling and installing of the ballustrade on the balcony (was supposed to be this week) and then the driveway. Smaller items such as extra painting, installing a light switch, site clean up and minor fix-ups shouldn't take alot of time. Insert the Llyeyton Hewitt "COME ON" gif here! Hoping to get lots of light Re: Our Metricon Duxton 39- Coastal Facade 78Apr 14, 2017 11:45 am Hey Pete, Thanks for posting the info on your build. Fascinating! We're just about to build a Duxton 39 down in Warrnambool. We're toying between Coastal and Isla at the moment.loving some of your ideas, especially the lights on the stairs, twin sinks and your colour schemes... Lots to think about... looks amazing. Cheers Thanks Dave, love Warrnambool! Good luck with your decision making. We are right at the pointy end now, the end is in sight. We originally chose the Coastal, then were told it was out of line/ no longer available and the Isla was the option. We were then informed that there was an Isla down the street, meaning that we needed to select something else! We were then able to have the Coastal, which is great with us as it suits the area Re: Our Metricon Duxton 39- Coastal Facade 80Apr 18, 2017 3:13 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Sorry folks, been a couple of weeks since the last post, school hoidays with the kids got the better of me. I lost a little interest along the way as the progress was sloooowwwww! Our SM gave us a predicted end of March date, that came and went, which we knew it would. Seemed to be trouble organising tradies to come back and finish off little jobs. Anyway, since the last post we have edged a little closer to the finish line and have a tentative PCI of next Monday. (YAY!). Some recent progress includes:
The picture depcits the front of the house (pic is a bit wonky!). The ballustrade has also been installed, awaiting the glass. The builder was there on Easter Saturday, which we think was admirable! This morning on our drive past on the way to work we noticed the framework for the driveway was laid, nice work for Easter Monday we think! Hard to post too many more pics at this stage given we can't get into the house. Hi, First of all, thank you to this community for sharing your thoughts and opinions.
