Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 27, 2007 11:30 pm Hi,
I seem to have a great many problems trying to cut a straight line with a jigsaw. It always wants to veer off line, the blade seems to bow. I find myself lifting the jigsaw's base off the timber to force it to cut along the pencil line but this doesn't give a satisfactory cut. It usually also ends up cutting on a downward angle that isn't at a right angle. I don't know if I need a higher end machine, because this has happended with 2 different jigsaws. Also I'm lefthanded and maybe jigsaws are designed to be cut by right hand (like most things in this world!!) Any tips welcome, cheers Re: jigsaw problems 2Jul 28, 2007 7:36 am Your answers lie here..
http://www.extremehowto.com/xh/article.asp?article_id=60232 But in short: Straight-line Cuts. Use a firmly clamped, straight guide fence to make long, straight regular or bevel cuts. For further accuracy on straight cuts, a wider jigsaw blade is less likely to curve outward during cutting. Also, use a slower blade speed. Slower speeds generally allow more accurate cuts.
