Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our second home-JG King Memphis 842Jan 18, 2017 2:46 pm Have you thought of a timber cladding instead of render. eg. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/56 ... c65be2.jpg We have about 2/3 of our facade rendered, and not overly impressed with the result. Had a lot of cracking/pitting and the repairs leave an inconsistent texture. Re: Our second home-JG King Memphis 843Jan 18, 2017 5:11 pm We had debated a few things Doc, just not sure of the up keep of wood. We had thought about tiling too. Back concrete got pour today looks good so happy we went to the corner. The front is all boxed up too. The plumber has been back through too and fixed up the down pipes and other damaged outside pipes Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our Build Thread - JG king Memphis Re: Our second home-JG King Memphis 844Jan 18, 2017 6:21 pm I really love the cladding idea Doc but we want low maintenance hence the no render originally. I agree render doesnt age well but i can always tile over it later on if we like. Here is some photos of the front concreting boxed up. Im hoping the curve will look good after thinking about it all day i thought we probably should have done angles instead but i like that this is softer on the eye. The concreting has really lifted my spirits. Its so nice seeing progress again and thinking we "maybe" getting to the finish line. I really like the idea of a nice big space for the entrance to make it grand. Cant wait to see it clean so we can see the exposed agg underneath. The back is drying nicely too and lightning up. The lines were cut today in the back. Its good to feel some positive progress again. No not washed yet. Tomorrow I think it gets washed and sealed. Our Build Thread - JG king Memphis Re: Our second home-JG King Memphis 848Jan 20, 2017 5:45 am Very nice! I bet you don`t regret putting the back garage door on for access, such a clever idea! My Homeone Thread - Re: Our second home-JG King Memphis 851Jan 20, 2017 12:16 pm That curve of your driveway is gorgeous! We found once our concrete had been poured it made the home more complete feeling. I liked the last colour for the render but maybe do a stack stone so it doesn't age, or even place a nice feature plant in front when it's all done. 😊 Re: Our second home-JG King Memphis 852Jan 20, 2017 12:55 pm Went past today at lunch time and it's been washed! I like the look of it, it has come out a bit darker than we thought but as it drys it should lighten off a bit just not sure how much? Still happy with it and thanks Teresa and Bank it already makes it feel more complete and yes the curve makes it look good we had debated a straight edge but very happy we stuck with the curve. We did have a fair bit of rain over night too, which I think is why they didn't acid wash it yesterday. Im so happy. It was a bit of a shock how dark it was when i first seen it but it really ties in the dark roof gutters etc. Cant wait to see it dried. So this is our whole facade with driveway Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Im so happy with how it looks as an entrance now.
