I don't know what brand our neighbour has but theirs is much noisier than ours, I don't find it noisy at all (inside or out).

Re: Evaporative Cooler: Brivis, Bonaire or Breezair? 30Feb 07, 2009 10:18 pm ![]() Okay, I've got a quote from a installer for Brivis P63 with 9 outlets in existing heating ducts wtih network controller. $4495 inc.GST Not too bad I must say... Thougths anyone? I dont know about using the heating ducts. Most heating ducts are not big enough for the volume of air that an evap unit will push through them. I had evap installed last year and all the companies i spoke with said they need bigger ducting. Add-on refrigerated systems would also need the ducting replaced i believe.Anybody know if this Is correct?? Thougths anyone? Hi Papa, I think thats a very good quote, could you PM me the details of the installer? I am also looking for competitive quotes. Thanks Re: Evaporative Cooler: Brivis, Bonaire or Breezair? 32Apr 10, 2009 4:24 pm Go Breezair... My parents had it installed about 14 years ago and have never had a service call out.. We recently had a breezair installed where we are staying now (the inlaws) and its great. So quiet even when you have it on full ball. Its been great on all those stinking hot days in Melb. With regards to the evap vs refridge debate, I think people either love or hate em... doesnt seem to be much middle ground. I love evap cause it keeps the house at a comfortable temperature and you still keep doors and windows open and just push fresh air around.. Sure you can get cooler with refridge, however i dont like a very cold house anyway, and like to keep everything open.. Also depends on where you live.. Melbourne, central vic and central NSW are great for the evap units.. there are a few humid days when they dont work well (i just switch it to fan only mode so at least you get air movement on those still days), but generally they are great. Also if you have a cooking incident and the houe fills with smoke (not that i do that very often *coughs*) just switch it on fan mode for 5mins and the house is clear. -------------------------------------------------------- Building in Highlands Craigieburn Status: Building the Laundryless 25.5: Slab Complete ![]() Re: Evaporative Cooler: Brivis, Bonaire or Breezair? 35Nov 29, 2009 3:57 am I came from a country where we sleep in air-conditioning room every night and now that we are building a home in Melbourne, our developer has included Bonaire summerbreeze evaporative cooling system on the first floor of the house in the contract. There are four bedrooms and a leisure room on the 1st floor with 5 outlets, I am not sure if this is sufficient as I can't imagine the coolness of the air these system can produce...can anyone tell me if this is good enough for hot nights in Melbourne? Also we are considering having air-conditioning spilt units on the ground floor because we do not know if the evaporative cooling air will go to the ground floor or not? Can someone shed some light? Re: Evaporative Cooler: Brivis, Bonaire or Breezair? 36Dec 09, 2009 12:17 pm Wait until you are in. Don't spend the money on splits if you don't need to now. You should be able to install after build. The cold air drops to the bottom floor, and is cooler anyway. Wait. I'm interested in this because in an ideal world I'd have gas heating with an evap add on for my double story but sounds like a lot of ducts. Re: Evaporative Cooler: Brivis, Bonaire or Breezair? 39Dec 10, 2009 1:46 am Hi 2blackthumbs Thanks for the advice. We will wait and see and anyway, the price quoted by the builder was way too expensive to even consider having air-conditioning on the ground floor... Re: Evaporative Cooler: Brivis, Bonaire or Breezair? 40Dec 10, 2009 10:07 am We have had a Bonaire system in our place for 2 summers & love it It work well on all days except for the really humid ones - but on those days we are in the pool anyway! I have friends with refridgerated aircon & we have it at work & I really dont like the harshness of the cold air they produce - evap for me is a much more natural way to cool and is MUCH cheaper to run.
