Essentially engineered flooring is just that - engineered. it is cheaper (most of the time) than solid timber flooring. And you can get some more variety of combinations of staining etc.. probably easier to install and replace bits. I went with solid timber flooring. plank on ply. spotted gum. when it gets laid, i will post a few pics. i just prefer the look of solid timber flooring. it just looks better and more 'natural'. each to their own i guess. price might be a big factor in your decision. try northside timber flooring. they seem to be decent price wise and certainly not over the top. Re: Hardwood and engineered flooring Perth 4Jul 08, 2016 12:05 pm I just logged onto the forum to ask the same question. I'm wondering if anyone has photos of an engineered floor laid? The price difference isn't huge ($186/ sq m for engineered vs $215 for solid) but engineered seems easier and I've been told it's good for our climatic conditions (boards will be in full sun in some areas). Anyway, the samples look good but I'd love to hear from someone who has laid engineered boards....we are looking at spotted gum. Re: Hardwood and engineered flooring Perth 5Jul 08, 2016 2:52 pm I got my floors supplied and installed for around 130 per square metre. Great looking floors and very nicely finished. I looked at spotted gum and ended up with a much harder solid wood that looks amazing. Would you mind telling me what wood and where you bought it from (even if you PM me..). I've already copied your toilets...and went to the plumbing supplier you recommended! Price was very good.... Thank you...again! Re: Hardwood and engineered flooring Perth 7Jul 09, 2016 11:45 am Pm me your email address and will send the details and pics Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 16769 Hi All. I'm currently resurfacing the hardwood floors and when removing the old layers that there's a long dark line running across the boards. Does anyone know what or… 0 15117 Thanks Simon, I guess I'm no concerned with the volume of the noise rather that dead and hollow sound and feel that is associated with floating floors. But I'm not sure… 3 6738 |
