Our builder has gone from roller doors to panelifts as a standard inclusion, which was music to our ears because we were willing to pay whatever it was to get the timber look doors. We only had a choice of two colours in the standard range but thankfully the Cabao colour was exactly what we are after I did fleetingly consider upgrading to the jarrah stain, but meh, they are only garage doors and l'd rather spend my money upgrading things inside the house where l will get to see them and use them all the time... I didn't really answer your question did l? lol..... Edit - Standard door is actually the Panelmasta "contemporary" doors and not panellift. Re: is the upgrade to a timber look garage door worth it? 4Jan 27, 2009 9:47 pm Thanks thorney, but our builder doesn't offer the Cobao standard - if he did - we'd take it in a heartbeat. But, he does off the sectional panel door with remote - so am I missing something here? We were offered heaps of colours, just no timber looks...

But, he does off the sectional panel door with remote - so am I missing something here? We were offered heaps of colours, just no timber looks... Annie Ok l'm confused...our door is under the "sectional steel" type of doors on the B&D site http://www.bnd.com.au/shop/?fuseaction= ... _id=82&i=1 and according to the colorchart timbagrain is available for Panelift, Firmapanel and Panelmasta type doors... http://www.bnd.com.au/content/?action=getfile&id=333 Unless he's offering you another type of sectional door?? or just doesn't want to give you the option of timber look?? Hmmm Re: is the upgrade to a timber look garage door worth it? 6Jan 28, 2009 7:38 am We love ours
http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f270/rellie33/10102.jpg It cost approx $2k to upgrade to this from a standard roller door. We are really happy with how it added to the house. Ours is an AGD Fineline timber FX in Jarrah. Re: is the upgrade to a timber look garage door worth it? 7Jan 28, 2009 8:19 am Yours is so nice rellie. Just as well we only had the BnD choices otherwise I would have wanted it. To upgrade to the timber look bnd was $1500 with our builder but more than double that for real cedar/timber. Re: is the upgrade to a timber look garage door worth it? 8Jan 28, 2009 8:35 am Our builder included a sectional panel door - so upgrade to Cedar look a like was only $500 for a double door. After 4 years - we're in! Re: is the upgrade to a timber look garage door worth it? 9Jan 28, 2009 8:51 am that;s bizarre, because our home includes a sectional panel steel door, so I'm hoping we only get the $500 upgrade cost too, if so, we'd take it in a heartbeat, not so much if it were $2,000!
we find out today, so Fingers crossed. A thankful person is a happy person. I am getting a rendered facade the same as the display home and it look brilliant with the wood grain finish! I love the look with both render and brickwork. Re: is the upgrade to a timber look garage door worth it? 12Jan 28, 2009 3:34 pm rellie We love ours http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f270/rellie33/10102.jpg It cost approx $2k to upgrade to this from a standard roller door. Re: is the upgrade to a timber look garage door worth it? 13Jan 28, 2009 3:49 pm I agree with mark_23!!! That looks sensational!!!
We were going to have a cappucino colour to match our gutters and portico but am thinking maybe we could go that colour garage door, with the cappucino colour just for the portico and gutters... Hmmm, decisions decisions!! lol! Might ask about the $$ of upgrading as that will make up my mind!! lol! Building the 'Clovelly' with Statesman Homes. Deposit paid, master plans received, currently awaiting soil/engineers report. Re: is the upgrade to a timber look garage door worth it? 14Jan 28, 2009 4:01 pm mark_23 Look great what are your bricks and render colour? The Bricks are Austral - Tan The render is Rockcote Newrybar blend. The infil above the garge is now the same colour as the render. Thanks for the compliments everyone Re: is the upgrade to a timber look garage door worth it? 15Jan 28, 2009 4:23 pm As long as you get the right colour they look good. I have friends who did go with the timber look panel-lift and I think it looks crap (really dislike the particular colour). I ended up going with a surfmist panel door and I love it (I used it on a display home recently and everyone actually comments on it!). Re: is the upgrade to a timber look garage door worth it? 16Jan 28, 2009 7:24 pm Hi guys, thanks for all the feedback, our builder came back today with a price of $800 to upgrade to timber look, we were happy with that!
