Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Vancouver -Porter Davis 308May 24, 2016 6:58 pm Oh my goodness that's a lot of upgrades Remember that most things are cheaper done afterwards, especially electrical and surround stuff. We ended up taking ours out and are using a local guy who's over half the price. Bet it will look amazing though! Haha good effort on the kc appointment, hope that you have made it out by now! Oh and we didn't get many credits at all, small credit for kitchen sink, and obviously now our shadowline in kitchen. Didn't even get a credit as we went with the standard in built bath vs the freestanding! Re: Vancouver -Porter Davis 309Jun 01, 2016 8:23 pm How much does category 2 carpet cost in Vancouver 33 to standard areas ? ( bedrooms, lounge, rumpus and activity ) We got an atrocious quote of $4743 in our colour appointment at WOS for carpeting. She however said we will get credits back at tender. Our porcelain tiling quote is $7900 including porcelain tiles to bathroom walls. So total is around $12600 for tiling + carpet. I am now wondering if I should opt for carpeting and tiling ( except wet bathroom areas) from outside and will that really cost cheaper than PD ? Re: Vancouver -Porter Davis 316Jun 02, 2016 2:42 pm How did it go for you to do floors outside of PD? Were there problems lining up your floorboards with height of PD carpet and tiling. We're thinking about outsourcing but worried there will be teething problems getting external work lining up post habdover Re: Vancouver -Porter Davis 317Jun 02, 2016 2:48 pm Ilan How did it go for you to do floors outside of PD? My dad owns a tile shop and told me all the right things to say and look for! If you need tiles his shop is in east Keilor - The Tile Shed Ashgrove 33, Porter Davis Contract: 09/09/15 Site start: 03/02/16 Slab: 22/02/16 Frame: 04/03/16 Lock-up: 02/05/16 Fixing: 19/05/16 Completion: Underway http://ashgrove33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Vancouver -Porter Davis 318Jun 02, 2016 2:50 pm Ilan How did it go for you to do floors outside of PD? We're thinking about outsourcing but worried there will be teething problems getting external work lining up post habdover to be honest we havet even started the build yet... pd were hopeless at helping us work out the thickness of tiles and carpet, we got so many conflicting answers about what they use to match this up and quite frankly ive heard even when they do them themseleves they still dont line up and theres a grate step that seperates the two, this blew our mind! we were told sheeting could be laid under the wetareas to line up with our floors, then next minute were were told they cant do that. it was very up in the air and honestly the way we feel at this rate we'd prefer professionals outside of PD to lay our floors anyway, they actually know what they are doing and can offer us better solutions then the fluff we got from pd. carpet should always be easy enough to mould to the correct level... its going to be interesting.. we'd just like to get started, we'd be happy with that... started process back in dec Re: Vancouver -Porter Davis 319Jun 02, 2016 3:01 pm Thanks. That confirms my suspicion that it may be hit and miss even if young with PD. I'm guessing you can vary the underlay options with a professional for carpet and boards externally: just a shame PD can't co-ordinate seem less transitions between he flooring areas and don't offer original hardwood (we don't like engineered option) Re: Vancouver -Porter Davis 320Jun 02, 2016 3:15 pm Ilan Thanks.
