We have found a block of land and are now trying to decide on a suitable house. We quite like the Eden Brae Windsor 42(http://www.edenbraehomes.com.au/a/39.html)
Has anyone built this house and what was the experience like?
Thanks
Troy

Good luck with whole building process. Our modifications to the upper floor means that the ensuites (besides the main bedroom ensuite) get eliminated and replaced with 1 main bathroom. I wouldn't want my wife to be cleaning that many bathrooms as well. We will be making the laundry smaller as well. It's way too big as it is. Wash your mouth out We actually only looked at the design because of the ensuites - that was a must have of DH's from years back. Every time he goes to the US he loves that most newly built homes have ensuites for every room. So we ended up designing our own home to include these. Dekarna - no somewhere out Belmont way from memory. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Eden Brae Windsor 42 13Jan 23, 2009 4:13 pm Good idea with the bathrooms.
In the house we are building I have joined the laundry and the study together to make a huge Laundry. I spend so much time doing laundry ( probably more time than in the kitchen) so for me a large laundry was a must- I wanted some where that everything could be done in the one place- washing, drying, folding up and ironing ( room for the ironing board to be left up) as well as general storage. Then I can just close the door and walk away- without having to look at it. I am so looking forward to it (sick I know). With EBH ( as with most builders probably) expect the paper work process to last a long time. With us it was like a very slow tennis match- back and forwards, back and forwards. Stick to your guns and make sure that everything that was promised to you by the sales staff is what you get. Get everything in writing. If the house has a display get the sales staff to walk you through the house and detail whats extras and whats included in the price. Tell them your budget and say that you wont go over it- but you really like the house! ( they may discount some items to get you there and the sale) Remember thoughout the whole process how much is it costing $$$$$$$$ and that you deserve a good quality product for your $$$$$$$$ Good luck! Re: Eden Brae Windsor 42 16Jan 23, 2009 9:21 pm wow! yeh, definitely a huge house! so many toilets to clean! lol, but, in all honesty, i was madly infatuated with the Windsor design from EB... i just couldn't pull myself away from it!
ps, sorry can't offer any help on building and what not... the sales staff @ EB, Homeworld were nice enough and they answered whatever questions we had amk - lol, you're house is bigger, isn't it? Ironically, I think having a bathroom per bedroom is less cleaning. For a start, each child can take some responsibility for keeping their personal bathroom clean. Secondly, the biggest time killer in cleaning bathrooms is mould. If you have three people share a bathroom, it could be wet for 9 hours a day. With one person it's 3 hours. Mould don't get a foothold since it's not wet for long enough. That is the main reason I have chosen one bathroom per bedroom in my house. My house will be around 48 with the additions so mine is only big Re: Eden Brae Windsor 42 20Jan 24, 2009 6:46 am ciellymy infatuation moved over to another house design by a different builder Just curious to know what house and builder you are infatuated with now. I'm guessing we have the same taste. Troy Hey Peter, We are currently in our Pre-Contruction phase with Mojo. We are building a very modified Charisma 30 (more like a 34 now). We've just signed our contract and… 1 15763 100% and I would recommend doing so from the pre-plaster stage which is where you are at. Reason being, after the service trades come through there are times they start… 1 38025 |
