Browse Forums General Discussion Re: SO. MANY. WHITE. PAINTS!!!!!! 4Mar 09, 2016 1:30 pm Although they tend to call them "whites", most don't appear at all close to white when presented in a large area. To gauge the effect you need large samples, and placed in an environment and indoor lighting you are familiar with. I'd also put them next to an untinted white sample, which in the case of Dulux would be Vivid White, to see in what way it varies from a neutral white. If you don't go for white, then when placed next to white, you'll want your colour to show up as something compatible with the tonings of the tile Re: SO. MANY. WHITE. PAINTS!!!!!! 5Mar 10, 2016 10:19 am One john thats what i was worried about because so many have different undertones i didnt want a white giving off a strong undertone. The appt went well and we have gone with natural white by dulux with gloss architraves and doors! Now to watch it all come together! Re: SO. MANY. WHITE. PAINTS!!!!!! 6Mar 10, 2016 3:33 pm We have natural white also, but in 1/2 strength. Its a really lovely white. We went with it as our painter is a friend of ours and suggested it as being a white that doesn't throw yellow or grey and it doesn't. There are some photos already on my thread of the paint if you're interested. We are using it on ceilings, walls, skirting, architraves, doors and jambs. Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=75302 SO. We've gone full strength or that's what we told our builder.. But were also considering 1/2. Now I'm confused!!!!! As I know you have good taste! Lol. Why did you go 1/2 over full? Thats what i wasnt wanting- the paint throwing a different colour, our painter said it was a really nice white im just hoping it still looks great at full strength! I will go have a look at your thread again, last time i was checking out your beautiful bricks and now its your paint Re: SO. MANY. WHITE. Custom knockdown rebuild Newcastle NSW viewtopic.php?t=78271 Hi Leksie. I pretty much let the painter decide the paint for me so no idea what the difference between full and half strength in the natural white. Will try and upload some photos on my thread of the paint. The ones on there at the moment are when only the ceilings and cornice were done. We now have ceilings and cornice complete with 3 coats and walls 2 coats. Yeah I guess half is just a bit fresher and starker. My husband wanted half and I convinced him to go full, I hope it's the right choice. We ended up sticking the paint sample cards on the wall above our TV for a couple of weeks. After spending so much time looking at the different colours and how they looked in different lights, we narrowed down to Haymes Polar Bear. Re: SO. MANY. WHITE. PAINTS!!!!!! 14Mar 13, 2016 4:00 pm We were pushed by our colour consultant as she wanted to pick up her kids before a storm hit. Most of the things we ended up by changing later but have kept to her recommendation of Dulux Whisper White low sheen on the walls and the same in semi gloss for the doors, architraves and skirtings. We have no idea if we've made the right choice, will no doubt find out in 6 months or so! Re: SO. MANY. WHITE. PAINTS!!!!!! 16Mar 18, 2016 11:54 am Ok well before I could overthink it too much the builder whipped ahead and our natural white full strength is going on! Looks great so far. I'll put some pics up in a thread though digital is really hard to get an idea. Custom knockdown rebuild Newcastle NSW viewtopic.php?t=78271 Re: SO. MANY. WHITE. PAINTS!!!!!! 17Mar 19, 2016 5:48 am If I am not mistaken, 1/4 strength will be brightest, 1/2 a little less and full strength the least (brightest). That's what out painter told us anyhow. We are going with Lexicon White in 1/4 strength. Our kitchen cabinets are Lexicon White but in 2 pack matt finish. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Custom owner build in Hume - VIC - Tiling Stage http://goo.gl/qpPglB Re: SO. Yeah exactly right but my query was whether the full would look too yellow or the half, too stark. I hope the full ends up being the right choice. The painter thought it would be a nice balance against our kitchen cabinets which are quite a stark white but I just hope it's not too yellow. I am going to the block tomorrow to check out tiling progress so i get to see the paint progress also! Yippee! Our white gloss kitchen goes in next wednesday so im really excited/nervous to see if the colours go ok together! Fingers crossed Re: SO. MANY. WHITE. It's quite a forgiving colour. Ask them what they use for the skirts etc. Our painter is using a water based enamel style product (it's the oil based on the skirts etc that tends to yellow over time). Custom knockdown rebuild Newcastle NSW viewtopic.php?t=78271 The yellowing mainly occurs to white or very light colours. 1 3035 I would never build with Fowler homes.
