Very often the exact wording is along the lines of : " key operated deadbolt " If you have no key to loose or be stolen and you have a break in with no visable damage & a sizeable claim and seriously expect insurance to pay out your living in a fools paradise - they don't make any money paying claims. I can open a lockwood mechanical digital lock in about 30 seconds with no damage and not a mark on it. Re: Digital Door Locks 15Feb 11, 2016 10:14 am For what it is worth I wouldn't rely on just one lock on my front or rear door. We have two - a keyed deadbolt and an old style keyed mortice lock with handle. As soon as we get home we pop the deadbolt and just rely on the mortice lock to come and go. I'd still use a deadbolt but use the digital lock when we were home. Just my 2c. Re: Digital Door Locks 19Mar 22, 2016 8:44 am I have a Samsung lock at present, but going with the August lock, keypad and doorbell in my new house. Other companies are catching up, but August is still the way to go. Also very simple to install. Bunnings seem to sell them but are more expensive than the eBay ones (that originate in Korea). Not really sure what path I should go down. I also go for brands that are easily accessible in terms of installation, repairs and after sale services. With the insurance issue, you may as well just ask your insurer about the payout details in case of a break-in with no visible evidence. 920 was enough to get the furniture in.
