Build with Redink @ SoR

Hi all, like many of H1 people, we (mainly I) have been reading (aka stalking) many posts especially those who use Redink as we are also building with them, and I think perhaps I should start my own thread. Just that I found so many helpful advices here that I feel it'll be great to part of it. We bought a 740msq block and demolished the old house. Build timeline is below.

Colorbond roof is next and we are hoping the roof will be finished by end of this week or early next. Fingers crossed.

So far we've been quite happy with RI, sales William Scates was helpful, prestart lady Sam was good, CLO and SS both appear to be quite prompt in attending to our queries.

Wow, very quick.it took Masterton 9 mouths to do all these.we are 4 months behind schedule. At least another two weeks for keys. Happy to say some happy projects.

Hi Teresa...where abouts are you building? I noticed the insulation and thermal practice seems more detailed than most builders apply to plans! I've engaged a thermal assessor to do the very same in our build. It should be a matter of course for builders but I think most just do the minimum to pass basix and NAThers. Love your plans!

How Arielbj, yes we are quite happy with our progress so far. They initially wanted to start site work one month earlier in October but we needed to put the pool in first so that's already a month's delay there. We are also lucky to have a bricky who just kept going and going even on weekends and the new year break!

But am sorry for your delay Aribelbj, and don't quite understand either, as our ss told us that unlike 2013/14, nowadays tradies are looking for work everywhere so wonder what cause the delay in your build? Did the builder explain anything?

Hi Deejay I would presume the insulation and thermal info are all the engineering stuff that are required to be sufficient for any plan approval? Not sure. Good to hear positive comments from people tho.

Oh yes we are building in Myaree, a nice and quite location with lots of kids in the neighbourhood that going to the same school as my 8yo son. DH sketched his idea of the layout and Redink helped to draft it. Worked out alright I think.

Hi Teresa,

Looking forward to watching your build. I liked seeing your shower shelf recess in the brickwork - we are having this too, but hadn't really thought about that they brick it!

Love the big store in the garage, I think that's very clever use of what would otherwise be an awkward dead space if left outside a conventional square garage!

What kind of style are you having in the house?

we like the shower niche too and we have it also in the ensuite. We missed them in the first 2 free variations and ended up having to pay $350 admin fee to have them added to the plan. but still well worth it I think, definitely don't want to be annoyed by the sight of the messy hanging basket every time I take a shower!

Yeah the storage, my DH used to have a big shed all for himself in our old house and he won't have one after we move in the new house so the storage is kind of a compensation for him really. He can move all his toys and tools in there

And you are right the angle wall does ensure that we don't waste any bit of the space. Our block has a 24m wide frontage but the back is only 14m wide, the left boundary is straight and the right is at an angle, thus the angle wall, as well as the stepping layout design of right side of the house. Now the garage angle wall sits right on the boundary.

haha style? we don't have much clue yet lol... so far our kitchen will have new chinchilla stone bench with Snow Drift glossy cabinet. We upgraded the rangehood to a Bosch integrated unit to hide inside the overhead cupboards. In the ensuite and second bathroom we will have French Nougat stone bench and Urban Wood for cabinet/drawers. we will do our own floor, paving (verandah, alfresco, driveway) and painting after handover. So there you go, we haven't really had a "style" yet

The second photo shows some scratches on one of the sheets, not sure if it should be a concern? Perhaps they will cut that bit off? Just a bite worried that it may get rusty down the track if they get wet. Or it's me being a big worrier...

It's Windspray, pidge. We were so worried all this time because the little colour sample we got shows a much darker shade and that would be exactly the thing that my DH tried to avoid. We are really happy how it turns out to be like.

We had quite heavy rain this morning so we decided to go and check out the house and see if the roof has any leak and yep it's all dry inside the house...happy!

We saw the electrician had done quite a lot of work and lots of wires are hanging. Can anyone tell if the little white box on the roof timber is a junction box:

There's also a new pile of sand at the front, I hope that means plastering will start soon (CLO's weekly update email didn't mention plaster so not quite sure). Any way, my son had a good time on the sand.
