We got some awesome news today. Having previously been told our site start had been pushed back to Feb, we heard from our BC today that we'd actually been transferred to site last Friday!!! (would have been nice for someone to tell us? Lol). Means we should have site scrape by the last week of Jan latest. After all these months of waiting for title and a complete stuff up with settlement, it's so nice to finally have some good luck

this whole process teaches a ton about patience, that's for sure, and I'm sure we have many more lessons to come on that one.

Has anyone built a home with the Rhode Island façade. We are building a Rhode Island Drysdale 28. We've had a look at the 2 display homes using it (which are the Vancouver and the Dunedin) but would love to drive by a Drysdale using the façade.

Hi, just wondering if anyone had Provincial timber looking floor with Juliana Brown color installed? Could someone please share a photo of it so that I can get a feel of what it looks like. Thanks in advance！

Did you or anyone get any photos of Juliana Brown laminate? I would greatly appreciate any assistance.

Here you go! Sorry for the late reply as I didn't check this forum during Xmas holiday. We really like the look and quality of this one. It is tough enough but give you the look of solid floor. My little boy rides his scooter on this without any markings. Highly recommended!

We're regretting not putting an extra cupboard above the bench in the laundry. Just emailed the BC to see if there's any chance of changing that. What are our odds? Less than 10%? Lol. I know we could do it post handover but would prefer to have it all done in the same style.

EDIT: Already got the no, darn. Ah well.

I know we could do it post handover but would prefer to have it all done in the same style.

I'm sure most cabinet makers would be able to match the finish/style.

After what seems an eternity, the end is in sight for us

! Tiling starts today, so it's count down to PCI. We need to start finalising tradies for all those post-handover, pre-move stuff. Does anyone have any recommendations for people in the east who do:
- Moving
- Concrete/Drives
- Landscapers
- Someone to seal our grout
- Electrician to install lights
- Fences - both paling side fences and masonry/iron front fence

Moving: Man with a Van. Have used them 3 times in the past five years - most recently on Tuesday - and they are amazing, to the point that I don't even bother with quotes from others. Will be using them twice more before we move in!

We've used Cheltenham Removals about 12 times between various family members, and they do a great job, for a competitive rate...

Currently have over 70 cubic metres in storage with them for about half the price of using any of the bigger companies

Hi all, just a quick (probably vague!) question...how much did you all spend on upgrades? Should you allow 50-100k on top of their base price? I'm talking about getting the house finished so without landscaping, blinds, driveway?

Basically you could spend anywhere from $1-$100k+ on top of base price, really just depends on your budget, what you're building, what category that's in, how many storeys....

We're building a 1 storey access home, 23 sq, think we spent about 30-40k extra.
We could happily have spent more but budget... sigh. Lol.

Our selections alone added $97k to our initial quote... Given we haven't found the money tree yet, we're about to prune back somewhat

If you were anything like us, you probably hit lunch at the world of style showroom in a state of numb shock??? Lol. Then the full enormity of the increase hit us with the number crunching that night. Then it really gets fun "we need x but we want y and can't afford both... Do we really need x? can we live without y? But I want both!!!" Fun times

The next step is to get the fix up carpenters (who originally worked on the home) in to attach the skirting boards.
Then the painters (again, the original ones, as they have to finish the final coat of clean on the stairwell anyway).
Then I need to find an electrician to put in the pendant lights etc.
Then I need to get the pool/sauna underway.
Then...
