I totally agree, you get what you pay for, it's with everything really. I wish I could afford a Siemens, Qasair or Whispair as they were my first choices but the kitchen is over budget already so I need to be sensible. I would prefer an undermount to cover my 900mm cooktop, any suggestions of brands would be very useful. Thanks We've gone for Ilve (it's 70cm for a 900 cooktop). It is under $1000and supposed to be good enough and very quiet. Meets your budget. We got ours for around $580 with the rest of our appliances. So how's it going with the Ilve? I'm on a budget too. Was the $580 new or used? Best Rangehood under $1000 15Jan 22, 2016 11:51 pm DocDave Leksie5000 Danette Thanks everyone for your responses, I really appreciate it. Was the $580 new or used? Brand new, I shopped around on an order of about 10k appliances so got a good price on it. Can't tell you yet, house isn't done. I've heard very good reports on the Iilve though. Thing is, what's the point of having a boatload of sucking power if it's too noisy to use every day? What prevents damage is consistent use - even if you just boil an egg. Yes some have huge capacity and are more quiet but whether it's necessary for a residential kitchen is up to the individual..
