Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Tiling 807Nov 16, 2015 7:45 am Thanks Vivmak, Frankie, Epaul, Shazaw, and Abztronic. We absolutely love it. It's plain and understated but perfect for us I'm about to order ceiling fans, exhaust fans and vanity mirror lights online. Yippee! Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Tiling 808Nov 16, 2015 8:13 am The niche above the bath is a great idea. Tiles to ceiling for the win! Interested to see what kind of light/fan fittings you choose Re: Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Tiling 809Nov 16, 2015 1:00 pm Everything looks great, the FC infills look good too (pregnancy hormones!!) I don't know why people think a new build is an opportunity to dump their junk, happened to use a bit too. Interested to see what kind of light/fan fittings you choose Thanks Yeah we figure the bath niche will just help keep things a bit tidier. Tiles to the ceiling are expensive . Time will tell if it was worth it or not Re: Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Tiling 811Nov 16, 2015 2:20 pm bluesteel Everything looks great, the FC infills look good too (pregnancy hormones!!) I like that kitchen splashback it's similar to mine. I have a colour called blast grey too. Our tiling starts this week and we had word that we could possibly have handover around the end of January. Do you have to do your own internal tiling or is Sekisui doing it for you? We are doing vinyl and carpet after handover so will prevent us moving in straight away. It wasn't our intention, but I think it will look pretty cool We can add colour accents with decorative items. Sekisui are doing the main floor tiling and carpet too. They've now said they'll do their best for before Christmas. Eeek.. fingers crossed. I hope this hasn't jinxed it! Re: Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Tiling 814Nov 16, 2015 5:29 pm I am loving everything about your house so far Catdunc! The outside looks great! I really, really your floor to ceiling tiles in the bathrooms, it looks great. We are having similar colour schemes, including a feature wall with the dark floor tiles, but with white instead of creamy wall tiles for the remainder. I also love the niche next to the bath. Good thinking! I can't wait to see it all finished with your furniture and lighting choices, I have liked everything you have posted so far. Re: Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Tiling 816Nov 16, 2015 8:10 pm Oh Wadedewilde I like that! Haha just as well hey I've been holding our tiny little piece of paper up against the bench here at my in laws (same cupboard and bench top colours) but it's really a very little swatch As for inclusions, the glass splashback was part of the promotion we got, but had to pay extra for it to be metallic. Maybe about a grand i think? Wow Bobbin that's the nicest thing ever to say. Thank you so much I'm afraid our furniture won't be fancy, not for like ten years anyway. We somehow attract a lot of hand-me-downs, so have couches and dining settings a plenty to chose from. I kid you not - there are three full sets of each in storage. Our furniture combination will be rather eclectic to start with Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Painting 817Nov 16, 2015 8:21 pm We bought nine of these guys today: Yep.. nine. It is entirely possible our house will take off when they're all on. OH is a bit OCD about condensation so a slight upgrade was a must. https://www.lightingillusions.com.au/shop/3-in-1-exhaust-heat-light/white-profile-plus-4-heat-bathroom-exhaust-fan-with-4-x-9w-boss-led-globes-mbhp4lw-11840 We still have to get vanity lights and external wall lights. Re: Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Tiling 818Nov 16, 2015 8:56 pm Thanks Cat. Ours was included in promotion too. I could have upgraded the glass to Starfire but was happy with the standard. Good to see it in person. I'm sure it will look amazing as a big wall piece. Did you spend much on upgrades? Btw do you Have any photos of your walk in at all? We are having a big one and curious what yours is like. Did you make any changes to it? Lots of light fans there. Where will they all go? Are you doing downlights all around the house? Btw your house is going fast. There is a Sekisui 3 doors down that has been going since May and still not finished! Going crazy slow. Re: Newcastle KDR (Sekisui) - Tiling 819Nov 16, 2015 9:27 pm nothing wrong with being ocd about ventilation Whilst we aren't that much I'm OCD about mould. And I have some in the shiny new ensuite, and so have the exhaust fan on heaps and am squeegying a lot.... and even leaving the window open overnight to keep it aired out as much as possible. Lots of fans! TAKE OFF! Looks like you have been doing some shopping! Lots of fun. The cubby looks cute! And can always be repurposed into a chook pen when your kids get too old for it... Good to see it in person. I'm sure it will look amazing as a big wall piece. Did you spend much on upgrades? We spent way too much on upgrades :/ Lets just say we had a budget and we blew it. Some of the upgrades aren't obvious so we won't make our money back if we need to sell in a hurry, but that's not our plan. These include internal wall insulation, different plasterboard, wall sarking, different water tank (custom size so it could fit), data, electrical, extra tiles, another toilet, etc, then $10k to raise ceiling, another $15k to make the house longer. It all adds up hey wadedewilde Btw do you Have any photos of your walk in at all? We are having a big one and curious what yours is like. Did you make any changes to it? The original walk-in robe (is that what you mean?) was too small for us so we made it bigger. We have asked for it to be empty and will deck it out with the IKEA PAX robe system. I've spent hours designing what we want, I just need to check measure before buying it. I'll post some screen shots soon. The PAX system looks awesome, I'd highly recommend checking it out online. wadedewilde Lots of light fans there. Where will they all go? Are you doing downlights all around the house? Down lights in hallway and a few other spots, otherwise all bedrooms, rumpus and dining/living have a batten light that we'll each change to a fan. So there will be 4 in the open plan dining/living/kitchen. We don't have aircon planned just yet so hope this will negate the need. Just need to work out how to keep me warm in winter wadedewilde Btw your house is going fast. There is a Sekisui 3 doors down that has been going since May and still not finished! Going crazy slow. Oh no those poor people. I think every build, no matter what company, it all depends on their SS. We're SO lucky that we got who we did (the area site manager for Sekisui). Seems the trades might go the extra mile for him. We only just scraped in getting him as he's being pulled at the end of this year from his own jobs to build new display homes. 2 11908 Excellent, thanks for the tip ... not in Sydney, but I might give the Dy Mark a try, cheers 2 1615 |
