Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 29, 2015 3:31 pm Hey guys,
I am contemplating of doing a DIY decking after watching the Master DIY video on YouTube . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrkpZEX764k We have a small 8.5 Sqm area that currently is covered with pavers. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ However the area is highly uneven. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I was thinking of creating decking frame and nailing it on the pavers. Another constraint is that we have 14 cm height to work with as there are low Windows on adjacent wall. So cannot use the deck bearer beams as shown in video. Thanks in advance . Re: DIY timber decking on pavers 3Nov 03, 2015 4:11 am Hey guys, I found this article on ground deck- http://www.painterclick.com/building_a_ ... l_deck.htm Our proposed deck is tiny 5 x 1.7 m, so I was wondering if 6 anchor posts and 70 mm wide joists could work in my case? Thanks. Re: DIY timber decking on pavers 4Nov 03, 2015 7:10 am If I was doing it I would attach a 90x35 treated pine ledger to the wall 20mm below my finished deck height and 4 stirrups across the front at 1.66 centres. The front bearer could be 2/90x45 TP nailed together. For joists I would use 90x45 f17 hardwood as the span is too long for treated pine. attached flush with the top of the bearers with joist hangers. The reason I would not use stirrups at the wall side is because you need some fixing for the decking boards hard against the wall, and the footing would be in the way of getting a hole dug, and a stirrup against the wall.WHICH leads to another problem.Any attachement to the dwelling needs a building permit, therefore needs a plan, and I'm sure those front stirrup holes will be then be made to be 600 deep x400 wide Crazy eh,all up costing 1/2 as much again for the job because of the plans, building permit and inspections. Just looked at this video http://www.howtobuildadeck.net.au/build ... deck-cell/ Seems like it will work, but the only issue is that the pavers are not levelled. Any thoughts how to tackle that Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 13191 Appreciate that Chippy. I won’t do sand under pavers and will connect all up under pavers, however I was going to do: 1) Roadbase compacted with manual hand tamper 2)… 10 18961 |
