Browse Forums Building A New House First Build–modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster:After Handove 210Aug 06, 2015 10:02 am The nightmare continues... 12 weeks since handover and we have had the plasterers and painters in fixing pretty much every single room in the house where there were visible ceiling and wall joins, popping nails and other plaster/paint defects... 3 days of plastering/sanding: http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2003_zpsjatzlerj.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2006_zps4s3y1sp2.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2001_zps2jvm0kcx.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2004_zpsjozbk2rb.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2007_zps9cqudwe4.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2009_zpsjccrzzfn.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2010_zpsfkpi2k7t.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2011_zpsony9ktfp.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2013_zpsrekom5f2.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2016_zpsp1iez3a0.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2017_zpswe0zw0ka.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2012_zpsg7qgjvhv.jpg First Build–modified Bayside30 by Stylemaster:After Handover 211Aug 06, 2015 10:23 am The painters finished yesterday, and at a glance the house looked normal, but no... visible roller lines all over the ceiling in our main openplan living area: http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/47aad293-3648-41f7-9cf4-31ccb6d21248_zpseexaz592.jpg pinholes in plaster: http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-paint%2003_zps969hvrgr.jpg pencil lines from plasterers visible through paint: http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-paint%2002_zpsrlp9o3nw.jpg but to top it all off, it appears they may have painted the ceiling in our wall colour - to the right is our entry ceiling, which hasn't been repainted, then you can see the cut in line of the original ceiling that hasn't been re-painted (to the left of the bulkhead), and the new paintjob, which is clearly not the same colour: http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-paint%2005_zpszueljrcf.jpg and the missed spots are more obvious with the different paint colour as well: http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-paint%2004_zpsijpcywzr.jpeg We haven't even had a good look at all the other rooms yet, it is just too disappointing and I can't bring myself to look. There have also been a few other minor defects still outstanding from handover (12 weeks later) that are only now being tended to amongst all this other drama... We will be having the Construction Manager out to look at the latest 'finished product' to see what happens next... It is really getting beyond a joke and has been such a disruption to our lives... Hopefully it will all be over soon! Re: First Build–modified Bayside30 by Stylemaster:After Hand 212Aug 07, 2015 1:44 pm If your painting is that bad, get onto the Masters painters association in your area and get them to do an inspection, they provide a report to the Australian standards. it's around $770 but looking at your situation I would send them in. Thank you for the tip, Crazyk... We have had the construction manager and painting boss out today - they weren't sure how it turned out looking the way it does and are looking at how they will fix the issues, so hopefully it won't have to come to that. I will keep it in mind though. Management has been really good and want to get everything to an acceptable level, it is just their trades that are letting them down unfortunately. Re: First Build–modified Bayside30 by Stylemaster:After Hand 214Aug 07, 2015 8:34 pm I'm so sorry to read about your painting dilemmas jlc, you must be so angry and frustrated. I can't believe the amount of issues there are and the poor fix up job they have done. Painting the ceiling the wrong colour is shocking, they would of been able to see that. I really hope you get some great answers and a fix to your painting problems Re: First Build–modified Bayside30 by Stylemaster:After Hand 216Sep 16, 2015 11:54 am OMG! Sorry to hear about the trouble jlc. It is always very disappointing.... I've seen that you moved in already, didn't you? Thats even double trouble with all the mess they do... O dear! I hope they will fix everything to your satisfaction and you can enjoy your new house. Lovely house, hope you can enjoy it now. Hi PVBuild, we actually had more painters through just this week to re-paint the ceiling for the 3rd time (that is 4 times in total now), plus a few wall fix-ups... They seem to have finally found a painter that has the attention to detail to make sure there are no missed spots etc... It's not perfect after all these coats of different paints, but it is a thousand times better than it originally was. They are also replacing a couple of stacker doors that are very scratched & there are a few outside paint fix-ups still to do, and the flooring company is coming to fix a chip one of the trades has taken out of our floor... and then they need to get all the paint splatters off our floors & blinds from the original painters that didn't bother to put plastic over everything... So just over 4 months since we got the keys, and we might have everything sorted in time for our 6 month maintenance! They also need to re-do our whole garage ceiling that has plaster joins & nails popping everywhere, but at the moment the garage is still full of all our stuff we haven't been able to unpack with all the trades in & out all this time. But, we are getting closer to actually making our house a home Re: First Build–modified Bayside30 by Stylemaster:After Hand 218Sep 20, 2015 8:18 am sebeva OMG! Sorry to hear about the trouble jlc.
