How much would they have slugged you if it was the other way around ie you allowed for an H1 slab and they said you needed an M class slab. That should be the reduction. I've heard it's around $15k.

I know you have a single but I want to know an indicative figure for electrical. I have asked MJH if my brother could do it for me but they said no and he is saying if he does it we'll have to re-paint and some of the structural beams maybe compromised on the lower floor. So I guess I'll have to pay MJH the $65/point instead of the $10/point that my brother will charge me. So really I am just wondering what you got & what you paid really. If you a lucky enough r you maybe able to get in one afternoon and run some cable yourself. I did some myself befor sheeting was done . Put all your power points in as singles and then convert them to doubles yourself afterwards. Your electrician mate should be able to help. I have a friend who is an electrician, he built a Monte Carlo with MJH, he prides himself on not going over the budget at all, he is going to do the extra work himself. He also allowed when positioning the power points that he could put another one on the opposite side of the wall if he chose to do so. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10203Apr 28, 2015 7:01 pm ![]() Hello all, While we are on the topic of air con - did you have to upgrade the air con unit itself? We are wanting to add 1-2 extra zones and a few extra outlets (currently 2 zones and 8 outlets) and hubby is thinking that we may need to upgrade or we will be running at max whenever we are cooling the whole house. Just wanted to get some info on this? Thanks heaps!! Casey, How do you know what air con you got? Ours doesn't tell us exactly what type of AC we got in our "deal". Did actron tell you directly? Or is it in your tender? Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10204Apr 28, 2015 7:03 pm ![]() Mixed news today. Now that the land is registered, and I have settled, I received another variation. Good news...slab is H1 not M, so I have a credit of $ 2,950.00 Then, the news that have to allow for rock, and allow for $ 3,500.00. Give in one hand, take from the other. I checked, as MJH is building 5 homes in the immediate area now...and non had rock problems. So not sure why need to allow for this. I guess so there are no surprises, and hopefully all will be ok..and I don't need to spend it. Hope the piering does not go over 50m. I guess that I will know in the next 4-6 weeks? Congrats on the land settlement, exciting time ahead! Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't it be the other way around regarding slab? H1 should be more expensive than M slab. The rock part is a bit strange/annoying, you would have thought they told you to provision that at the tender stage. Like you we didn't provision for rock in our tender........... Very interested to hear how you go with the piering as we are building similar/same size house and like you we only provisioned for 50 lineal metre of piering. Provisioned for H1 classification, and do not need it. So I got a credit of $ 2,950 because only need M class slab. I was surprised at the allowance for rock. No other homes in the immediate area have struck rock. My guess is that they want to allow for it, just in case, and then no nasty surprise for me. If not needed, then I get a credit of $ 3,500. I suppose if the piering goes over, and also they sprung the news about rock on me, all on the same day, I would not be a very happy chappy. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10207Apr 28, 2015 8:32 pm Just curious can anyone tell me how many days their bricking actually took? Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10208Apr 28, 2015 8:58 pm ![]() Just curious can anyone tell me how many days their bricking actually took? Time line on my blog has almost everything... ours was 22 days including weekends, 2 rain days and they ran out of bricks which took a couple if days. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10209Apr 28, 2015 9:04 pm ![]() Where are you building? We have provisioned for a H1 class slab. I am building at South Nowra Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10213Apr 28, 2015 9:44 pm We have had rain admittedly but I feel like so little is done each day. It seems very slow!! They have done the sides and back now, but still the whole front bit to go. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10214Apr 28, 2015 9:46 pm ![]() looks like there are more bricks in the skip bin then on the walls. Haha true. Maybe we just have extra careful brickies? I'd love to think it's that! But this def explains the bricking delay out here!!!! Sooo slow!!! Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10215Apr 28, 2015 10:28 pm Thanks patte_au, we just might do that. We are also building a Miami 15 - can I ask if you chose any extra zones / outlets? Thewhitehouse: it states in tender "Provide action air SRA203" maybe recheck your tender to see if it mentions that there.... Colour appointment for us tomorrow!!! Wish me luck as I think I am going to need it ![]() Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10216Apr 28, 2015 10:35 pm You will be fine at colours. I had a massive panic attack the night before ours... Then again that morning... I was so stressed I was nearly vommitting. When we got in there, it was SO EASY and all the decisions were easy and stress free and FUN and our consultant was so helpful and patient and kind. Colours was a great experience for us!! Go the Miami, lovely house! Where bouts ru building..? We are building in North Richmond, eventually... (Waiting on registration) The guy at Actron said that the 9 outlets would cover us, but we may just add an extra 1 or 2. The zones we have in our contract is only day/night zone.. He said we'll probably need to add extra.. 4 zones should be sufficient. (But also said it's really personal preference).. We only have 1 child, so to cool all bedrooms at once is a waste to us... We are still thinking bout it.. He did say that the Actron rep will go through it all & recommend how it should be set up. Hope that helps you a little... Good luck in colours! So exciting.. Hey creedy very cool colour with your kitchen...something we don't see too often I assumed you did not get the Saturn switches upgrade from MDJH. If so, did you asked them to just leave the outlet/switches cavities ready for the GPO and switches you will purchase yourself? My friend is a sparky and I asked him to do most of my electrical upgrades (LED's, ceiling fans, switch upgardes, etc). Any helpful tips will be appreciated.
