Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 10, 2014 8:05 pm Welcome to Jane and Mark's new home build at Logan Village. Bought our block (856m2) out at My home and the River estate in Logan Village just before Christmas 2013, but had to wait until June 2014 for the land to be registered with council and we were able to take possession. In that time we found and finalised the design of the Daydream 30 from Coral homes. Made one minor and one major change to the original design. The minor change was we moved the wall in the study so it would be open to the activity area rather than the entrance hall. The major change was that we took the entire master suite out of the Avoca design and transplanted it into the Daydream. It meant we had to move the wall out into the alfresco area about 250mm to make it fit but we ended up with 2 walk in robes, needless to say Jane is very happy about that and the room looks great. We did also change the windows in the family and master from awnings (yuk) to double hangers. Plans attached, hope I did it right, check em out, more photos and updates to come as we get into the build. I've been living in this area for the last 28 years on 20 acres. We bought in Logan Village, and the former Beaudesert council moved us to Buccan a few years later with boundary changes. The good thing with your estate is that the estate is supposed to be NBN connected already, and if not, you are that close to the exchange you will get very fast ADSL2+ speeds. After all this time we have bought a 1 acre block in Jimboomba Woods estate, and I'm owner building it. So with a little luck we'll be a bit further out of town. We are currently building the Daydream 28 also highly modified out at Buccan (The Aspect) on just over an acre Its been a very slooooooowwww process so far with lots of hold ups but hopefully for you everything goes smoothly! Room for the two new puppies Re: Coral homes daydream 30 at Logan Village 4Sep 11, 2014 8:23 am Hi bpratt and Charli, thanks for the welcome. We are new to this area but have lived in Logan and Sth Brisbane suburbs all our lives, so know the area well. Here's hoping that the internet speeds are right up there am well over the average speeds we have here. Checked out your build bpratt all looks good with the roof now on, shame about the letter box lol. Thought about going with a bigger block but in the end decided that we didn't want that much land so kept it simple with just the 856m2. Hope we don't have the delays and hassles that you seem to have had Charli, must be frustrating. Found the whole design and planning process slow. It has been very annoying at times dealing with the sales and office staff, although I have to say some have been awesome too. Had to get our own "Generally in Accordance" from council so we could move the build omp right up to the 6m mark from the front of the block, Coral didn't seem to know how to do this. But that has been the only major hassle so far. We found them very good in the design process with our changes. Am looking forward to the build, have met the SS and talked through the build, he has been fine so far with everything. Here's hoping anyway. Anyway as a starting point it all looks good. All good though and looks great, nice to be able to walk around the slab and picture where the rooms will be. More pics added just click on one of the links above and scroll through them all. Good news for us, it will mean less time living with the inlaws once we knock this place down The house looks HUGE according to the slab! Now we have to start paying for this monster, first payment, for the slab, due this week. Actually spoke to the chippie yesterday, pretty happy with the job that him and his gang have done so far, hope all the trades are on top of it like these guys are. The more I look at your plans the more I like what you've done with the master bedroom. I floated the idea to the husband after I first saw your changes, thinking maybe we could at least extend our pokey little ensuite and robe and cut into some of the al fresco. Unfortunately the super-large al fresco was one of the things that sold him on the Daydream 28 so it was a no go He's not interested in colours or other selections, but he's already picked out the outdoor furniture we're going to get, so that gives some indication for how keen his is for it! LOL What colour bricks are you going for? And what facade? I really appreciate you uploading the pics as you go along too, it's great to watch it all take place Follow my Coral Daydream 28 build: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72384 Re: Coral homes daydream 30 at Logan Village 12Sep 18, 2014 8:30 pm Hey Mellywil, Yes it is going fast but I'm sure that will change, are just enjoying it as much as we can while it is speeding along, so good to see it all take shape. Yes we get a lot of comments about the master, have to admit it was all Jane's idea to take it out of the Avoca and fit it into the Daydream and Helen at Ormeau was awesome with the design. Decided not to do anything with the facade, just went with the standard designer one, would rather dress the front with plants and lighting than spend money on a facade. Bricks are double height Alpine, have to say I didn't like them when we had just the one sample brick, but when I saw them on a house they looked so good just had to have them. Went to the house today, the framers are finished and the guttering and fascias have been delivered so they should be going up soon. Colours are Basalt for the gutters, which will match the roof and Paperbark for the fascia which will match the garage door and blend in with the bricks, we hope. We're pretty plain when it comes to design anyway, so it suits us - as did the price! So nice to see some colour, looks great, can't wait for the roof to go on. Can't wait to find out. Actually, haven't even seen the roof panels get delivered yet, hope it's there. No idea about the bricks Mellywil, I would think they are due to be delivered very soon. Had yesterday off and met with electrician to go through all the first fix wiring, all good, couple of minor changes that he suggested which make pretty good sense. Also getting him to run power to the back of the house for future connection to shed, seems easier doing it now. All happening there yesterday, roof was put on Thursday, spoke to the roofers and they just got it done before the storm hit, bit of good luck there. They just had to finish off the ridge capping and put in the whirlybird, which was all finished yesterday, so we now have a completed roof. Solar hot water panels were put on in the morning and all the pipes run to where the tank will be, then the rest of the solar panels were put on in the afternoon. Pure luck, but while I was there all the windows and doors arrived (yay) ready to be installed next week. So much has happened in the last week, pretty impressive stuff. So glad we now have a roof. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e240/comfortablynumb119/P9260872_zpsc6e6edbe.jpg [img][/img] Check out our build - Daydream 30 at Logan Village - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=73302 Re: Coral homes daydream 30 at Logan Village 19Sep 29, 2014 9:40 am Oh wow, look at your HOUSE!
