Would you mind pm'ing me who did it and the cost per m2? We are planning exposed agg on the driveway and honed agg on the portico and alfresco. We are so happy with the honed drive and alfresco - can't wait for it to be sanded and sealed so we can see the final finish! It's already looking so good and we are so glad that we chose to go with it Painting was finished today and now we are waiting for the floors to be installed - but that's not till next week. Sazzy91, Burns and Leanne, PM sent My Build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64881 Re: Building with Aveling in Byford - After the handover 548Sep 05, 2014 12:35 am Oh wow that looks gorgeous! What colour is that one? Re: Building with Aveling in Byford - After the handover 549Sep 05, 2014 12:41 am trixee Oh wow that looks gorgeous! What colour is that one? It's a Hanson mix, Oyster Creme. Looks a little yellow in their catalogue thing, but we are very happy with how it's turned out Re: Building with Aveling in Byford - After the handover 550Sep 05, 2014 12:48 am When mine was done I thought it was going to be a bit cream than grey . I thought they had put the wrong one on .lol . But I love the colour . I bet it feels nice and smooth . When I walk on mine I can still feel the rocks . When I walk inside lol . Thank god I have a shaggy rug when I walk inside . Lol Re: Building with Aveling in Byford - After the handover 551Sep 05, 2014 9:00 am Next time you come past, come and have a walk on mine.... you know you want to ha ha! My Build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64881 Re: Building with Aveling in Byford - After the handover 552Sep 05, 2014 9:24 am Hi do you mind sharing the price difference of honed & exposed? We are getting exposed driveway, alfresco & around the pool we were told honed was ALOT more expensive so never bothered having it quoted. Just worried it's gonna be too rough under foot in the alfresco & pool area. Everything looks great by the way, you must be so pleased with it all Re: Building with Aveling in Byford - After the handover 553Sep 05, 2014 10:49 pm Hey Torz, you are right - the honed is a lot more expensive nearly $40 more per m2 but there is so much more work to honing than having the washed agg. They poured ours on Monday, cut control joints on Tuesday, did the grinding Wednesday and Thursday and finally sealed it today. In my opinion it is absolutely worth it. Walking in bare feet on mine today was an absolute treat! I guess it depends on how much you have to hone - if you have say 50m2 then it's an extra 2000. I know it all adds up, but I can attest to how smooth underfoot the honed is and would do it again despite the extra cost PS. It has been sealed with a non slip sealer and still feels smooth My Build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64881 Re: Building with Aveling in Byford - After the handover 554Sep 05, 2014 10:58 pm Money well spent d_d. It looks fantastic. Re: Building with Aveling in Byford - After the handover 555Sep 05, 2014 11:05 pm It looks stunning. So jealous I can't afford it. My Build, viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64837 Re: Building with Aveling in Byford - After the handover 556Sep 05, 2014 11:38 pm Love it!! Pretty sure we going with this for parent retreat. Just going to have try choose a colour? How did you choose? Is there samples? Re: Building with Aveling in Byford - After the handover 557Sep 06, 2014 12:13 am We went to home base in Subiaco that had some on display. We also had a look at the concrete web sites - BGC, Hanson and Holcim. It's always better to see in person if you can as the mix can look quite different in person. Our concreter has a showroom. Also honed looks lighter than washed agg. We originally chose a BGC mix but the concreter asked if we could choose from the Hanson range, assuring us that it would not look too yellow and he was right. My Build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64881 Re: Building with Aveling in Byford - After the handover 558Sep 06, 2014 10:11 am Will have to take a brick with us and see what looks best. We were going with granite pavers but all the greys look so blue against our deep brown bricks. So I'd like find a warm grey/brown colour to compliment it instead Re: Building with Aveling in Byford - After the handover 559Sep 06, 2014 9:38 pm Sealed aggregate http://i1330.photobucket.com/albums/w577/vaimoso54/Mobile%20Uploads/IMAG2386_zpsutdkjmtc.jpg Little path to the side - in retrospect, I should have just done the lot all at once as I don't think it's long enough now http://i1330.photobucket.com/albums/w577/vaimoso54/Mobile%20Uploads/IMAG2383_zpsotilqkzl.jpg From garage looking at sealed driveway http://i1330.photobucket.com/albums/w577/vaimoso54/Mobile%20Uploads/IMAG2382_zpsswr7aa2x.jpg Portico & Front entrance http://i1330.photobucket.com/albums/w577/vaimoso54/Mobile%20Uploads/IMAG2380_zpsjlwptuwl.jpg Our steppers - we still need to level properly when we do the levels for landscaping http://i1330.photobucket.com/albums/w577/vaimoso54/Mobile%20Uploads/IMAG2377_zps7t4fbklm.jpg The Alfresco http://i1330.photobucket.com/albums/w577/vaimoso54/Mobile%20Uploads/IMAG2375_zpszx9riekw.jpg Honed alfresco edge - we made the alfresco to inside floor level.
