Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building the Burbank Prescott 61Aug 03, 2014 8:43 pm We have packed one room but have plenty to go. We spent the last few days helping brother and sister in law move into the home they have just finished building and it made me realise how much of a big job moving is! House update today: fly screens, blinds, all door handles, ensure mirror, towel rails and hand towel holders, ducted heating done. Still to do: electricals, glass splash back, external painting, shelving in cupboards/robes, sliding doors for robes, one mirror and appliances. I think that's it! Electricals are the last big job to go and then just a few little things. So excited to get in there!! Hope everyone else had a productive week getting closer to moving! Re: Building the Burbank Prescott 62Aug 16, 2014 3:34 pm Been a little while but plenty is happening. PCI booked for Friday! Despite the speed of our build it took us by surprise, so we spent today furniture shopping and I'm going to get some more packing done. It all seems very real all of a sudden! Last time we checked the house it was all done except for external painting and electricals. Can't wait to see the glass splash back up close and all our lighting choices! How is everyone else going? Any advice for PCI? Re: Building the Burbank Prescott 63Aug 21, 2014 7:38 pm WOw Prescott so jealous!! hehehe We have been doing furniture shopping for the last 2 months already haha (excited much) and already put some items on lay buy!! So can't wait to see your PCI pic's!! Our build pace is so similar I so hope it keeps going smoothly till the end like yours! Does your admin ring you for updates quite regularly? Sounds like he/she does.. lucky you! PCI tomorrow yay! Very excited to see the (pretty much) finished product. We have been sourcing fence quotes to get fences done asap so we can move in with our dog. Glad yours is going quickly too Anocha! I'm sure it will be smooth sailing, we have had such a good experience! Re: Building the Burbank Prescott 65Aug 21, 2014 8:54 pm Congrats and good luck with pci Tommorrow .. We have drafted a checklist to try to cover everything but I'm sure it will be ok. Looking forward to switching the lights on and off lol Re: Building the Burbank Prescott 67Aug 24, 2014 8:26 am PCI went well! Our site supervisor was great, was happy with everything we picked up on (which was mostly paint touch ups, they will probably just do another coat of paint to most of the house as the painter was rushed first time round!, also one exhaust fan was stuck, a bit of silicon around a sink was missing, external door painted the wrong colour, I think that was about it) and is keen to get everything fixed properly before settlement so he doesn't have to come back! Settlement 5th September, which works well because our fences are booked for the 8th so we can do a gradual move over that weekend and officially move in with the dog on the 8th. Very exciting! Plenty more packing to do though in the next couple of weeks. Re: Building the Burbank Prescott 68Aug 24, 2014 11:47 am Congrats Prescott !! Glad it went well. Man that went quick so it's like less than 4 months, ur build is the quickest build I know of! And importantly no dramas! Have u done all ur shopping as well? U must be excited and the dog too! Lol! do u have to pay for the power bills while Burbank is building ur house? I saw our meter has just been turned on on Friday and just wondering.. It all seems to be happening at once lol. We got our final invoice which we have sent to the bank. Once we get our occupancy permit we need to send that to the bank too, and we will get a bank cheque to give to Burbank on the day of settlement. We go to the house first for final inspection, then Altona to sign off and get keys. Our ss let us know settlement date at PCI which we made as late as possible (2 weeks from PCI) so that we have more time to organise ourselves. Anocha I think we do pay the power bills now. A week or two ago we had the gas and electricity company call us to connect it up and create accounts. Yes it has been so fast! It all looks lovely though, very happy with everything, our choices and the quality of the build.
