Browse Forums General Discussion Re: House Relocation/ Haulage - Contract to protect us? 6Aug 22, 2014 6:36 pm Agree with above post. We have moved several houses but we weren't involved or on the block on the day of the move. That is all up to the house removers, who, as professionals, carry their own insurance. I am sure we would have had insurance also but that would have been part of the overall fee we were charged by the house removalists. Re: House Relocation/ Haulage - Contract to protect us? 7Aug 22, 2014 8:48 pm Thanks for your comments. I'm also concerned about them cancelling, which would mean we wouldn't have enough time to find someone new and would then need to demolish - which is a cost we haven't allowed for at the moment. Also I want to make it clear how the block is meant to be left, and what is acceptable to leave and what isn't. I didn't get a chance to speak to a solicitor today but will post about what they say when I do. Hopefully it's simple and cheap! Re: House Relocation/ Haulage - Contract to protect us? 8Aug 23, 2014 9:48 am We gave our old house away (advertised it on gumtree etc). Had a piece of paper agreeing to us allowing .... to remove the house by a certain date. -We obtained our Council "demolition" approval. -We had our usual Building/contents/3rd party Insurances which I think covered our liability until the house was actually on the truck, after which it was the movers responsibility. The only problem we had was running past the "move by" date by about a month, but eventually was sorted. Re: House Relocation/ Haulage - Contract to protect us? 9Aug 30, 2014 3:23 pm We've spoken to a solicitor who kindly gave us a two page letter/contract he'd used previously. With his consultation we made a few changes and sent it off to the other party for comment. It was hugely in our favour, but if the other party is serious about it then it won't be a problem for him. We haven't heard back from the other party yet. If anyone reads this and wants to see it feel free to PM me and I'll send you a copy of the original we were sent and the new version we created for you to use/alter as well. You talk about deletions, are they variations or PS and PC adjustments? pleas list them 1 17235 Good on you for having a go I am the opposite of DIY (so will pay a builder) - our vibe is industrial/simple so current thinking is 150mm concrete and then internally is… 3 3225 12 5711 |
