At that price point, I don't think the difference between Amp and AVR would make any difference. If the budge goes up, you will find AVRs that will do as good a job as a dedicated Amp, unless you are looking at serious money on speakers and Amps. I am using Krix speakers and when I spoke to the tech department at Krix they told me that their speakers run fine on most AVR. Amps can always be upgraded and tech advances in the processor end. Speakers and amps worth spending more on as they do not upgrade so often.
